Early in the Season 2 premiere for Peacemaker on HBO Max — and spoilers past this point — Peacemaker (John Cena) encounters a weird alien inside his Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC). And given we’re just at the dawn of the new DCU, it’s reasonable to think this is a big, huge reveal. So, what is the alien in Peacemaker Season 2, and how does it connect to DC Comics?
Short answer? It doesn’t. We see the alien enter the QUC from its own door, which is one of 99 other dimensions than the DCU, which the QUC connects to. It’s holding some gross rat-thing, throws it in an incinerator, burns it, and gets ready to head back home. Peacemaker gives a friendly wave and a “morning,” but the alien ignores him and leaves. “F**k you then, you Cryptkeeper-looking b**ch,” Peacemaker says as the door closes.
In the closing credits of the episode, this character — who also appears in the opening dance sequence — is credited as “Kyphotic Alien” and played by Dorian Kingi, an actor and stunt performer who was previously the Cad Bane performance artist on The Book of Boba Fett, a Russian prison demogorgon on Stranger Things, and the Antlered Man in the horror movie Antlers (it’s the titular role!).
However, according to the Mayo Clinic, Kyphosis is “an excessive forward rounding of the upper back.” So when they’re saying Kyphotic Alien, it’s merely an alien with a bit of a hunchback. That’s the whole thing. And it’s from another dimension, not the DCU, so it’s not secretly a race from DC Comics.
What Could The Kyphotic Alien Be From DC Comics?

…but what if it is secretly one of the alien races from DC Comics? What then? The problem is it doesn’t really look anything like one of the many, many aliens from the comic books. Most likely, it’s more along the lines of Mr. Handsome from Superman, an original James Gunn creation that just looks weird.
But let’s say it is — what could it be? On Reddit, there’s been a bunch of speculation already… I’ve seen a lot of theories that this could be a Martian, Green or White, like the race of shape-changers the hero Martian Manhunter comes from, and his evil opposites. However, since the Kyphotic Alien is from another dimension, not Mars, we can safely rule that out.
Another theory is a Daemonite, one of the big bads of DC’s Wildstorm Universe. Again, the reptilian aliens don’t look anything like our guy above, but Gunn is developing a movie based on The Authority, a team that came from the Wildstorm Universe. So, maybe on this one?
One off-beat theory? This is an Eskaton Demon. A relatively recent introduction to DC Comics, they’re enormous creatures who eat Anti-Life and are destined to destroy The New Gods. A large part of the theory here is likely that they have four red eyes (sometimes), just like Kyphotic Alien.
Again, though, most likely the Kyphotic Alien isn’t a Dominator, or a Coluan, or any of the myriad races that have been introduced over the past 80 years. Instead, he’s just a weird guy who wants to burn his rats and not talk to anyone.

I want more of that alien dude. Like…who cares if it’s from the comics or from James Gunn’s goofy brain because it made Jennifer laugh. That guy is awesome. I feel he/she/they need their own episode at least. Maybe it’s Peacemaker but from a really messed up dimension. And then creepy hairless cat-rats are like…who creep dimensional Wallis has them hunt and destroy. We don’t know of their ways and culture. We should be more inclusive
But wait…in this newly formed DCU, there are only 99 different dimensions? Or are there only 99 that they found so far?
