New Comics This Week: Full Comics List For August 20, 2025

Wow, can you believe summer is almost over? Time to go back to school, I guess, because we’re about to school you on all the new comics this week for August 20, 2025.

Marvel’s got a bunch of big titles this week, including Marvel All-On-One #1, an oversized one-shot by Ryan North and Ed McGuinness which pits The Thing against the entire Marvel Universe, all told in full-page splashes. Then there’s Black Cat #1 from writer G. Willow Wilson, which finds the title character trying to be a hero. Maybe. And All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #1 uses the cosmic cube to make Gwen an official part of the 616.

From DC Comics, Justice League Red #1 introduces a black-ops team from writer Saladin Ahmed. Detective Comics #1100 is an oversized issue celebrating the milestone with short stories by all-star teams. And Absolute Batman #11 reveals Absolute Bane’s absolute origin.

From IDW, Event Horizon: Dark Descent #1 presents a much-belated prequel to the cult classic movie. Image Comics’ Escape #1 is an anthropomorphic war epic from Rick Remender and Daniel Acuña. And Dark Horse Comics continues The Umbrella Academy with Plan B #2, detailing the origin of the Sparrow Academy.
