‘Assorted Crisis Events’ #6 First Look: Are You Suffering From Retro Anterograde Temporal Diminishment?

Assorted Crisis Events — mild critical hyperbole here — is the book of the year. Beautifully drawn, brilliantly written, and pressingly timely, the series by Deniz Camp and Eric Zawadzki is doing what comics are supposed to do, but rarely execute on: represent and reflect on the world outside our window through the lens of science fiction. And it looks like that will continue in Assorted Crisis Events #6.

Alongside colors by Jordie Bellaire and letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, the upcoming Image Comics issue hitting this November drops readers into the lives of people suffering from Retro Anterograde Temporal Diminishment.

“I am so proud of this work, and the way every member of the creative team elevates and interacts with each other,” said Camp via press release. “It’s truly a special thing, and I feel the best is yet to come, and lucky to be a part of it.”

Added Zawadzki, “The work that Deniz, Jordie, and Hass are doing is magical to me. This comic is so fulfilling creatively and I hope we can keep this going for many years.”

“I’ve never felt more alive, this project is an absolute joy to read and create,” said Bellaire.

So, what is Retro Anterograde Temporal Diminishment? In Assorted Crisis Events, time is broken. And in issue #6, the disease finds people, “vacillating between child and octogenarian from one moment to the next.”

Assorted Crisis Events #6 hits stores on November 5, with covers by Zawadzki and Marcos Martín. Check them out as well as two pages from the issue below.
