Batman And Static Team Up:
Batman (of Batman Beyond) is teaming up with Static (of Static Shock) for a new six-issue miniseries from DC Comics titled, appropriately, Batman/Static: Beyond. Launching in November, the series will be written by Evan Narcisse with art by Nikolas-Draper-Ivey, and will fall under DC’s Elseworlds imprint.
In the series, Terry McGinnis (the Batman of the future-set Neo-Gotham) is wrestling with the emergence of the Q-Wave Energy Grid, a new tech pioneered by Virgil Hawkins. Meanwhile, Earth is about to join the interplanetary alliance known as the Cooperative, with the Justice League Beyond brokering the deal… Until a mysterious villain causes a global blackout. So it’s up to Static and Batman to save the world.
Said Narcisse via press release, “Static is a former teen hero who grew up to take on even more responsibility for his city and the larger world, while Terry is still figuring out how to do those things in his own way… Their approaches to making the world a safer, more just place are extremely different. That difference energizes the big question they have to deal with: can they learn to work together during a critical moment when everything they’ve taken for granted has fallen apart?”
Batman/Static: Beyond #1 will debut on November 12, 2025, and get collected in a trade edition scheduled for August 4, 2026.
Marvel Heads To WEBTOON:
The latest publisher to bring their comics to the immensely popular vertical scrolling platform WEBTOON? Marvel.
Per Forbes, Marvel will soon offer titles reformatted for the platform, including Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Star Wars, Alien, and Disney As Old as Time: A Twisted Tale. In total, 100 comics will be available from Marvel, with the first few episodes rolling out for free, and the rest available for purchase, per the usual roll-out for the platform.
Marvel is only the latest publisher to join the platform, as Archie Comics, IDW, and Dark Horse have already launched a number of their properties there. DC Comics has successfully been running Wayne Family Adventures for years. And on the flip, Oni Press and Random House have been bringing WEBTOON Originals to print. In fact, Marvel has even collaborated with WEBTOON before on an Eternals series, as well as foreign language adaptations.
While there isn’t an announced debut date for Marvel’s titles on WEBTOON as of yet, of note, this will not replace the vertical comics on Marvel Unlimited — it will merely complement them.
Rodney Barnes Heads To Crownsville:
Rodney Barnes is headed to Crownsville for Oni Press alongside artist Elia Bonetti. The new series will debut with a double-sized, 48-page issue and will be inspired by, per PR, “the real-life horrors of the notorious Maryland psychiatric hospital that preyed upon the Black communities of Jim Crow-era Annapolis for decades.”
In real life, the Maryland-based institution was segregated, and only closed after decades of “overcrowding and neglect— alongside darker, more-persistent rumors of patient abuse and illegal medical experiments.” In the series, Barnes writes about “an unexplained death inside the abandoned hospital.” While it’s ruled a suicide, a police detective and journalist dig deeper, only to discover true horror inside the walls.
Said Barnes, “CROWNSVILLE is the supernatural mystery tale I’ve been dying to tell. From a childhood haunt born in a place of pain, it’s my cathartic effort I’m thankful to share with the world. I can’t wait for folks to get a look at it.”
Crownsville #1 hits stores on November 5, 2025.
