Harvey Awards Nominees 2025 Announced: See The Full List

the harvey awards

The Harvey Awards have announced its nominees for 2025, including Book of the Year, Digital Book of the Year, Best Children’s Book, Best Young Adult Book, Best Manga, Best International Book, and Best Adaptation from Comic Book/Graphic Novel. And as you may notice, while the focus is on books, unlike the Eisner Awards, the Harveys include a category that pits musicals and plays against movies and TV shows.

Held yearly at New York Comic Con, the Harvey Awards are named for Harvey Kurtzman, best known for creating MAD Magazine. This year’s Harvey Awards nominees were, per PR, “selected by a curated committee of industry voices including creators, publishers, retailers, educators, and librarians.” Now that the nominations list is out, anyone approved for a Professional or Artist Alley badge at any ReedPop comic convention between 2016 and 2025 is eligible to vote — and in fact, have already received invitations to do so. Voting is open now until September 2. And speaking as an impartial member of the comic book press, they should really open this voting to people with Press badges, as well.

Anyway, in terms of who is out on top in the nominees, Webtoon snagged three of the five nominations in the Digital Book of the Year category, for Castle Swimmer, Morgana and Oz, and The Mafia Nanny. First Second tied those three with noms for Mixed Up, Weirdo, and Ash’s Cabin. And Fantagraphics also got three nominations, for Raised by Ghosts, Mothballs, and Sunday.

Dark Horse nabbed two nominations, for Helen of Wyndhorn and Blacksad: They All Fall Down Part 2. Viz also grabbed two noms, for Resenter and Tokyo These Days. Yen Press got two as well, for The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All and The Summer Hikaru Died. And Kodansha got two for Witch Hat Atelier and Wind Breaker.

But the biggest nominee, if you include the multimedia properties, is Marvel. While the publisher only snagged one print nom for Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1, Agatha All Along, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Daredevil: Born Again, and Thunderbolts* were all nominated, as well.

This year’s Harvey Awards will be streamed live from New York Comic Con on a TBA date and time. More info, including this year’s Hall of Fame will also be revealed at a later date. Check out the full list of nominees below.
