Superman-Batman Hits Top Of July 2025 Graphic Novel Sales Chart:

DC’s Compact Comics continue to be a big hit in stores, as the latest addition to the line, Superman/Batman, hit the top of the July 2025 graphic novel sales charts.

Per ICv2, DC took 11 slots on the Top 20, with Compact Comics accounting for nine of those books. However, perhaps the even bigger news is that James Gunn’s DCU continues to perform the rare feat of driving people to comic book stores, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hitting the number two slot on the charts, thanks to the Maid of Might’s appearance in the new Superman movie, and the All-Star Superman and Superman: Birthright Compact Comics taking the three and four slots. And not only that, a 2018 printing of All-Star Superman also popped up on the charts, at number 20.

Image Comics came in relatively strong on the charts with five slots: Grommets by Rick Remender and Brian Posehn at number five; and Skybound nabbing the other four, for Transformers: Worst Bot Ever, Transformers, Vol. 3, and two different editions of Invincible Volume 1.

That left IDW and Marvel tied with two slots each. IDW charted Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees and TMNT: The Last Ronin II; while Marvel’s charts included Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1… And by contrast to the DC/Superman sales, the Marvel Premier Collection of Fantastic Four only came in at number 19.

Nicole Maines And Jadzia Axelrod Team Up For New Justice League Story:

Dreamer and Galaxy will be teaming up in a new Justice League story — and so will writers Nicole Maines and Jadzia Axelrod.

The news comes via Nerd Initiative, which talked to Maines at San Diego Comic-Con, where the writer explained that, “Galaxy and Dreamer haven’t teamed up properly in the mainline comics yet. just in the graphic novels.”

Axelrod later confirmed the news on Bluesky, adding that it is “a Justice League Unlimited story… starring Dreamer and Galaxy, as well as Star Sapphire, Adam Strange and Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) on a mission on Naltor, Dreamer’s home planet.” Axelrod further noted that it’ll “be a double-sized issue out next year.”

Galaxy is an alien princess first introduced in the graphic novel Galaxy: The Prettiest Star, and then appeared in Axelrod’s run on Hawkgirl. Maines starred as Dreamer on The CW’s Supergirl, and has since taken stewardship of the character in comics, including writing the character in the currently running Secret Six.

Former Crowdfunding Publisher Boundless Has Crashed And Burned:

Boundless, the publishing successor to crowdfunding platform Unbound, has crashed and burned in less than five months.

Per The Beat, Unbound was an early crowdfunding platform that aimed to publish a number of graphic novels, as well as prose novels by comic book writers like Alex De Campi. However, unlike Kickstarter, which gives the money to creators to then publish their works, Unbound held the money raised, and then used it to pay off other debts.

Unbound shut down in March, owing more than $3 million… And then after a quick purchase by interested parties, returned almost immediately as Boundless, which promised to solve those cash-flow problems by ditching the crowdfunding aspect of the platform.

While Boundless did promise some “goodwill payments” to authors still owed royalties, and noted that it would take at least six months to pay off all their debts… On August 1, less than five months later, they too have shut down. With the website down and the company officially gone, it’s unclear what will happen to the works still left in limbo by the situation.
