Finally, after 30 long years, the evil Dr. Porkchop is coming to comics. Sort of. Marvel will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pixar’s classic Toy Story with a series of homage covers featuring the iconic characters, from Woody, to Buzz, to, yes, the evil Dr. Porkchop.
The covers will be drawn by Marco Forcelloni and Nicky Nicotera, and will reimagine classic Marvel covers with the Toy Story characters in their stead. They’ll be featured in November on Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, and Avengers.
Here’s Marvel’s description of them, per PR: “It’s playtime as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Hamm and the rest of Andy’s toys take over legendary moments in Marvel history! Woody rounds up the gang just like Captain America assembled Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers #4. Then, it’s Woody’s great responsibility to make sure no toy gets left behind as the lovable cowboy sheriff recreates Spider-Man’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15. Finally, Buzz Lightyear soars to infinity and beyond, following in the footsteps of superspy Nick Fury’s classic cosmic adventure in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #6. Capturing the heroic spirit of the Toy Story franchise, these first-of-their kind illustrations are sure to be a hit with comic book fans and Disney collectors alike!”
