Robert Crumb also returns!

Jimmy Palmiotti, you won’t believe this, returns!

This is Comic Book Club News for August 8, 2025.

Black Heart Billy Returns From Image For 25th Anniversary:

Black Heart Billy, the absurdist action satire by Rick Remender and Kieron Dwyer, is returning to comic book stores for its 25th anniversary, as Image will release a Deluxe Hardcover of the series.

In the series, readers met Black Billy, a skate-punk with a robot head, who comes in conflict with a “deranged Nazi scientist” who decides to bring Adolf Hitler back to life in the corpse of Jerry Garcia. The Black Heart Billy 25th Anniversary hardcover will collect the whole run alongside bonus content and a new afterword written by Remender.

Said Remender, “No character holds as much personal weight for me as Black Heart Billy. In 1999, I was a broke kid who’d just moved to San Francisco chasing a stupid dream to make independent comics. Skateboarding and punk rock had shaped my life and I wanted to create a book that lived in that world. Something absurd and unhinged and true to the scene that gave me a home.”

Black Heart Billy 25th Anniversary hardcover will hit comic book shops on December 17, and bookstores on December 30.

Robert Crumb Returns With New Collection From Fantagraphics:

Robert Crumb, at age 81, isn’t just alive and well, he’s also still hard at work creating comics. And Fantagraphics is publishing his first new work in 23 years in the new collection Tales from Paranoia.

R. Crumb — if you don’t know — is basically the father of alternative comics, or one of them, and was the man behind 1967’s seminal ZAP. Now, decades later, he’s still writing and still drawing… This time taking on everything from the internet and deep state careerists, to the very idea of paranoia itself.

Per PR from Fantagraphics, the book mixes, “memoir, essay, polemic, neurosis, and conspiracy across 12 short comics—including the final Dirty Laundry story, drawn by Crumb from a script written with Aline Kominsky-Crumb before her death in 2022.”

Tales of Paranoia will hit stores in November from Fantagraphics, helping kick off the publisher’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Jimmy Palmiotti Returns To Marvel For Daredevil And The Punisher Series:

You’re one bad day away from finding out about a brand new miniseries from Jimmy Palmiotti: Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger is a five-issue series from Marvel, coming this November.

Alongside art from Tommaso Bianchi, the story will find DD and TP divided by ideologies, a rarity for them because they usually see eye to eye.

Said Palmiotti, “Honestly, writing this series has been a blast and a true gift for me. Reconnecting with this storyline, originally sparked during the Marvel Knights era, is pure adrenaline and nostalgia for me and gives me the opportunity to dive deeper into what makes both the Punisher and Daredevil unique in the Marvel Universe. Revisiting these iconic characters and their explosive ideological clash feels like slipping back into a gritty, familiar alleyway for me. The Punisher’s wiped the Gnucci family off the map, but the vacuum doesn’t stay empty for long as Daredevil witnesses the birth of four new crime syndicates as they rise from the ashes to take over the city.”

Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger #1 hits stores on November 26.
