Writer and artist Gabriel Hardman is bringing back the hard-boiled, ’80s thriller with DC’s new four-issue Black Label series, Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia. And while Hardman is, of course, aware of the classic team-up of the characters by Denny O’Neill and Denys Cowan, he’s taking his own approach.
“I’ve wanted to tell a story about Batman, Green Arrow and the Question since I was 14 years old and I couldn’t be more excited to finally get the chance,” said Hardman via press release. “While I’m taking inspiration from the great work of Denny O’Neil, Denys Cowan and Mike Grell, this series isn’t an exercise in nostalgia. I’m taking the grounded approach they spearheaded in the late 80s and moving forward, having these three difficult, opinionated personalities confront a contemporary brand of criminality on a global scale.”
While Hardman will handle writing, pencilling, and inks, he’ll be joined on colors by Romulo Fajardo Jr. and letters by Simon Bowland. In the story, Bruce Wayne, per PR, “forms a tenuous bond with a billionaire climate visionary,” while “Batman begins to question the true purpose of Arcadia—an ocean-sailing city, climate-hardened against weather extremes, being constructed off the coast of Greenland. Meanwhile, Green Arrow and the Question investigate the darker realities hidden beneath Arcadia’s utopian promise.”
Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia #1 hits stores on November 26, 2025, with a main cover by Hardman and variant covers from Kevin Nowlan and Denys Cowan & Bill Sienkiewicz. The latter was previously released as a poster promoting the “Fables” crossover between Detective Comics Annual #1, Green Arrow Annual #1, and The Question Annual #1.
In addition, the hardcover collection of Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia will hit shelves on June 16, 2026, for $24.99. You can check out a preview of four unlettered pages and two covers, below.
