It’s Spider-Man Day, a holiday we all know and celebrate, so after you’re done calling your spiders and telling them you love them, boy, does Sony have a big surprise for you: eight whole seconds of new footage showing off Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) suit from Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Accompanied by the caption “Something brand new is coming…” the video includes a little music, and close-ups of the suit with black in the background. Part of this is to celebrate Spider-Man Day, as well as the kick-off of production on the new Sony/MCU movie in Glasgow, as well as teasing the release of the movie one year from now on July 31, 2026.
But given this is BRAND NEW FOOTAGE from Brand New Day, we have GOT to break down everything we learned. So here goes, second by second:
1. Spider-Man Will Wear His Costume In Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The first big reveal? Spider-Man is gonna be wearing his costume in Brand New Day. And not just any costume: his Spider-Man costume. You can see that clearly based on the colors in the first second of the footage, which are red and… Black, maybe? Hard to tell, it’s pretty dark.
2. Back In Blue
Now we’re cooking! At second two you can see what looks like a piece of blue fuzz on the shoulder, but this is likely a blue design on Spider-Man’s costume, as seen in the classic, comics faithful blue and red at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
3. Is It A Brand New Day, Or Is Night Is Coming?
As the camera turns around the costume, it gets really dark. Is this teasing that even with a Brand New Day, things are about to get very dark in the new movie? Given The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is showing up in the film, it’s entirely possible that Spidey’s new day may turn into a horrible night. If so, will he say he’s classic catchphrase, “what a horrible night to have a curse”? Fingers crossed!
4. Brand New Day May Be Part Of The Ozark Cinematic Universe
We know that Brand New Day is a Sony movie and is supposed to be part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). But what this shot at second four suggests is that it may be part of the darkest cinematic universe known to man, the Ozark cinematic universe. A quick and appropriate four seconds of research shows that Netflix’s Ozark was filmed on Sony Venice cameras from Season 3 onwards, so: case closed.
5. Spider-Man Has Two Shoulders
Interesting note here as we continue to slowly pan around the Spider-Man costume: at five seconds in, it’s revealed that in the new movie, Spider-Man will have not one, but two shoulders. He’s also had two shoulders in the previous movies. But still, this is definitely the confirmation fans have been waiting for.
6. Spiders Have Eight Legs
There are eight seconds in this trailer, and spiders have eight legs. Did you know that?
7. Maybe It’s Actually In The Dark Universe
Seven seconds in is an entirely dark frame, so maybe Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn’t Ozark-related; it’s part of Universal’s Dark Universe. Spider-Man is one of the rides at Universal Studios theme park, and Dark Universe is one of the new areas at Epic Universe at Universal Studios Florida. Ergo: confirmed.
8. Our First Look At The Spider-Man Logo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhhh oh my god it’s the Spider-Man logo, but only part of it! AHHHHH! Is it July of 2026 yet???
