Frank Miller Returns To Dark Knight For Old Man Logan Crossover:
Frank Miller is providing a variant cover for the upcoming Marvel and DC crossover, Deadpool/Batman #1, featuring Batman and Wolverine. And not only that, Miller’s cover isn’t just a homage to, er, himself. He’ll also be writing and drawing a back-up story featuring the version of Wolverine from Old Man Logan pitted against the Batman he created in The Dark Knight Returns. Wild!
Originally published in 1986, Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns is considered one of the best comic book series of all time. Miller has returned to that well multiple times with 2001’s The Dark Knight Strikes Again, The Dark Knight III in 2015, The Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade in 2016, and The Golden Child in 2019.
However, Miller hasn’t drawn interiors for the version of the character since 2015. A decade later, he’ll take him on again, as well as the Mark Millar/Steve McNiven created future Logan, in Deadpool/Batman, which hits stores on September 17.
DC Announces Absolute Green Arrow:
The next big title in DC Comics‘ Absolute Universe line? As announced at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s Absolute Green Arrow, by Pornsak Pichetshote and Rafael Albuquerque. And while the book itself won’t be out until 2026, you’ll get to meet Absolute Oliver Queen a little early. Specifically, this October.
And double specifically, in the October debuting Absolute Evil special, where Oliver Queen is… One of the bad guys? In the issue, the rich baddies of the Absolute Universe are getting together for the first time. That includes Ra’s al Ghul, Veronica Cale, Elenore Thawne, Hector Hammond, and Joker… But eagle-eyed comic book fans likely noticed there are seven hands “all in” on the cover to the issue, and those are only five characters listed.
Well, now we know who six of those seven hands are — the seventh remains a mystery — and you might be scratching your head as to why Oliver Queen is teaming up with the bad guys.
Well, as reported by The Beat, it seems like Oliver Queen is “a billionaire, who gets fed up with how other billionaires are acting,” which seems like pure fantasy to me — but is consistent with Oliver’s character in the mainline comics, where that happens all the frickin’ time. Also of note, per art shared at the panel, this is your classic Oliver Queen with Robin Hood beard and all.
And also of note? It’s great to see Albuquerque on this… He was slated to be the original artist on Absolute Superman, but due to catastrophic flooding in his home country of Brazil, he had to bow out of the title, and pass it over to Rafa Sandoval. Now he’s back on an Absolute Universe title, and it feels so good.
Absolute Green Arrow #1 is slated to debut in Spring of 2026.
TMNT Take On Godzilla In New IDW Series:
It’s not easy being green, and it’s definitely not easy being a ninja turtle or a giant kaiju. So one imagines that Godzilla and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have a lot to talk about in the upcoming comic book crossover Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla from IDW.
As announced at San Diego Comic-Con, the new series will be written by Tim Seeley with art by Fero Pe, who knows a little something about both properties… Seeley is the writer on the new Kai-Sei era Godzilla, while Pe drew the (very fun) Stranger Things/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover series.
So, what brings the two titans together? Turns out the purpose of the Foot Clan is to protect Japan from kaiju. But when Godzilla and other monsters appear, it’s up to the Turtles to stop them, and Shredder and Krang, who are looking to upgrade the Foot Clan with some kaiju DNA.
This crossover is just the latest example of Godzilla being a big old slut. The king of the monsters has his own line from IDW, as mentioned. He’s also crossing over with DC Comics in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2. And Marvel just kicked off Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe. What’s next, Godzilla vs. Skybound’s Energon Universe, and he fights Transformers and G.I. Joe? Because that would be really, really cool.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Godzilla #1 hits stores on November 12, 2025.
