Humanoids Announces Four New Projects: Alejandro Jodorowsky Returns, Two Erotica Collections, And More

LET’S TALK ABOUT SEX: ODE TO THE X and TEARS OF SEX

A recent feature on the site Comics Beat asked: “what’s going on with NSFW comics lately?” While it’s worth a read, the publisher Humanoids has your answer… Two new erotic anthologies hitting Kickstarter featuring work by Mœbius and more. And not only that (though more safe for work), they’ve got three other projects, including a join dual launch from two Chilean legends, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Gabriel Rodríguez.

All four projects will be heading to Kickstarter soon, with vastly different focal points. The Rodríguez/Jodorowsky joint is titled From Chile to the Edge of Imagination, and features two different graphic novels. Jodorowsky, who is still jamming out new comics at age 96, will bring on Cosmopirates, a new space opera with art by Pete Woods. Meanwhile, Rodríguez will pencil The Chasm of Resurrection, a “haunting period horror penned by French writer Hirodjee.” In addition, the duo will work together on a TBA project for Kickstarter backers.

But let’s talk about sex, baby! The NSFW erotica collections are titled Ode to the X, and The Tears of Sex. The former is an anthology of erotic 18th-century poems, interpreted by modern illustrators who Humanoids calls “the secret lords of lewd and lust: Liberatore, Loustal, Bess, Chauzy, Jeff Rey, Beb-deum, and Mœbius. The latter is a collection of vignettes by “’80s master of eroticism” Alex Varenne featuring “the sensuality of women whose fantasies Varenne not only reveals, but arouses to fruition.”

The two other projects are From the Archives: Crespin’s Armalite 16, “a long-lost gem by European luminary Michel Crespin, for the first time ever in English,” and Halfblood by Ibrahim Moustafa. In the latter, Moustafa crafts a story “dripping with bloodlust, honor, tragedy, and redemption.”

All four projects are up on Kickstarter now with pre-launch pages at the links above.
