It’s San Diego Comic-Con week, and you know what that means: new comics coming out this week as usual! That’s right, other than the biggest pop culture convention in North America (debated) hitting the same day, there are plenty of new comic books for July 23, 2025. So let’s talk highlights, then the full list.
It’s a curiously light week for Marvel Comics, though “Thunder War” does kick off in Storm #10, a self-contained three-issue event that looks to redefine Ororo. Runaways #2 brings back Chase Stein to muck things up for the team — or maybe save them. And Gwenpool #3 finds everyone at Gwenpool’s funeral since she died last issue.
DC Comics continues H2SH in Batman #161, and it’s a battle royale. Superman #28 pits the Man of Steel against Darkseid’s Legion of Super-Heroes. And Absolute Martian Manhunter #5 continues the most mind-bending book on the stands.
From Dynamite, ThunderCats/The Powerpuff Girls #1 crosses over the two properties for sugar, and spice, and everything thunder-thunder-thunder-thunder cats. Godzilla #1 debuts from IDW, kicking off the Kai-Sei era. And Ice Cream Man #44 takes the form of a performance review.
