DC K.O. Is The Publisher’s Mortal Kombat Style Event:

DC Comics has been teasing a big event coming in October, tying into the ongoing DC All In story and the mystery of what, exactly, happened to the big baddie Darkseid. And now we know what that event is: DC K.O., a “knock-down, drag-out fight” between the DC super heroes to save the universe from Darkseid.

Written by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson with art by Javi Fernández, the event will include 36 fighters in a tournament of champions type situation. The video-game style plot finds Earth separated into a five-level gladiatorial arena, with winners generating Omega Energy in order to be crowned the champion, King Omega, a being with enough power to take on Darkseid himself.

The series will run five issues starting on October 8, and will continue through 2026 (so presumably, monthly). Front and center in the story will be Superman, who Snyder teases will be “looking into his own heart of darkness.” And while that seems to indicate the Man of Steel will come out the winner, Williamson notes that “unexpected heroes” will win the challenges and go farther in the tournament in surprising ways.

Before the main series will be a prelude story, Justice League: The Omega Act #1, written by Williamson with art by Yasmine Putri, that will hit stores on October 1. And the tie-ins will continue to pummel shelves throughout the months to come, including in Titans #28, Superman #31, and Justice League Unlimited #12.

Then in The Flash #26, Mark Waid returns to the Scarlet Speedster for a tie-in issue, taking over from Si Spurrier, who is leaving with The Flash #25. Vasco Georgiev will provide art for that issue.

There are likely more tie-ins to come, and all will be revealed on the DC All In: What’s Next panel at SDCC next week.

Something Is Killing The Children One-Shot Announced:

Just in case you thought Something Is Killing The Children wasn’t a long enough title, get ready for Something Is Killing The Children: A Monster Hunter Walks Into A Bar. The story, originally serialized in BOOM! Studios’ anthology Hello Darkness, will be collected in one issue.

Written by James Tynion IV with art by Werther Dell’Edera, the one-shot follows a group of people who were saved by monster hunter Erica Slaughter, reminiscing about their dark adventures.

With spinoff House of Slaughter done for the moment, and the main series seemingly hitting a bi-monthly release schedule — issue #42 hit in June, issue #43 is scheduled for August, and as of this recording issue #44 has yet to be solicited — hopefully this one-shot will help fill the gap.

SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN: A MONSTER HUNTER WALKS INTO A BAR #1 will be available in comic shops on October 8, 2025.

Batman By Darwyn Cooke Gets Absolute Edition:

Iconic artist Darwyn Cooke sadly passed away in 2016. And 10 years later, we’ll be getting a Batman by Darwyn Cooke: The Absolute Edition from DC to remember the creator.

As revealed over at 13th Dimension, we don’t have a lot of details about what will be in the book, other than Cooke’s “most iconic Batman stories.” Those could include Batman: Ego, the Batman/The Spirit crossover, or maybe just some random pages of Batman from DC: The New Frontier. Probably not, though.

So what do we know? It’ll run 544 pages, cost $100, and hit stores on April 7, 2026.
