Superman is now officially in theaters, after some pre-screenings on Tuesday for Amazon Prime members. And since James Gunn’s kick-off to the DCU is out in the wild, you’re likely wondering if there are end credits scenes — and how important they are to the future of the universe. The answer is yes, there are two credit scenes… But it’s the one right before the credits that tees up the next movie.
Spoilers past this point, but we’ll break down the mid-credits scene for Superman, the end credits scene for Superman, and then, since it’s the actually spoilery part, leave what happens in the pre-credits for last.
Superman‘s Mid-Credits Scene Is A Sweet Expansion On A Motion Poster

Right after the main credits for Superman, we cut to the moon. Superman (David Corenswet) and Krypto are there, looking at Earth in the distance. It’s very sweet, but basically the same shot we saw on the motion poster that was released a few months back. Only this time, Krypto is “hugging” Superman. It’s also a little confusing continuity-wise given what happens in the final scene of the movie. But we’ll get to that in a second.
Superman End Credits Scene Is Just A Goofy Little Two-Hander

If you hang out to the very end of the credits, you’ll get one additional scene that was not spoiled on a poster a few months ago. In it, Superman and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) are looking at a building in Metropolis that did not quite join together the right way after Lex Luthor’s (Nicholas Hoult) portal ripped a big chasm in the world.
“It’s just a little off,” Superman says, to which Mr. Terrific shoots back, “What do you want me to do, put it back together?”
Then Mr. Terrific gets pissed off and wanders down the street, kicking a rock as he goes.
“Darn it,” Superman says. “I can be such a jerk sometimes.”
That’s it! Just a silly little scene from two silly little guys.
The Final Superman Scene Teases Next Year’s Supergirl Movie
The final scene of the movie finds Superman recovering in the Fortress of Solitude, when look who arrives: it’s his cousin, Supergirl (Milly Alcock)! She’s clearly wasted, wearing a fur coat over her Supergirl costume, and back — briefly — to reclaim her dog, Krypto. Turns out, when Superman throughout the movie was dismissively explaining that Krypto isn’t his dog, that was true: he was dog-sitting for Kara Zor-El.
Krypto is thrilled to see her and bashes her into the floor of the Fortress, then they both head off, exit stage left. After they’re gone, Superman explains to his robots that Kara likes to party on planets with red suns, because there Kryptonians don’t have their powers, so they can get drunk.
…And that leads us directly into the action of Supergirl, which is scheduled to premiere on June 26, 2026. Based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, Supergirl is getting drunk when she becomes embroiled in a conflict started by a pirate/criminal named Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) — who injures Krypto with a poisoned arrow in the process. Alongside a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), Supergirl pursues Krem across the galaxy for a cure for Krypto, as well as revenge.
Superman only sets up the “drunk party girl” thing as well as that Krypto will be in the next movie, a decidedly different take on the character than fans saw in the CW version. But you’ll get to know a lot more about this Supergirl when the movie (which has already wrapped production) arrives, next year.
Keep An Ear Out For The Mighty Crabjoys In The Credits
Okay, there’s one more fun thing hiding in the credits. In the movie, Clark (Corenswet) is a huge fan of the band The Mighty Crabjoys. They’re not real, but they do have a theme song written by James Gunn, Devin Williams, and Eric Nally. “The Mighty Crabjoys Theme” plays over the credits, but you can listen to it — or relisten to it — right here, right now:
