On today’s episode, we’re taking a look at some of the highlights from the Marvel May 2025 solicits, including One World Under Doom, Ultimate Universe, and much more.
This is Comic Book Club News for February 25, 2025.
Marvel May 2025 Solicit Highlights:
One World Under Doom continues into month four at Marvel, with nine different titles. In the main book, Dormammu attacks Earth, while in May’s Fantastic Four it’s up to Valeria Richards, trapped in a world she never made, to save the titular team. And if you don’t have enough FF, you can check out Fantastic Four Fanfare, a four-issue anthology series by a bunch of all-stars telling stories from throughout the team’s storied history.
Speaking of trapped in a world they never made, Giant-Size X-Men #1 sends Ms. Marvel rocketing through the X-Men’s history for five linked one-shots that will reveal secrets about the history of the team. It’ll also make you wonder how many different times we can reveal dark secrets around the founding of the X-Men, which is turning into something out of Back to the Future 2.
Spider-Man, as usual, has a packed social schedule in May. The rebooted Amazing Spider-Man releases two issues featuring what seems to be a Hobgoblin of some sort. Meanwhile, Spider-Man & Wolverine is a new ongoing series teaming up the two characters. Spider-Verse Vs. Venomverse kicks off this month with all the Spider-Mans and all the Venoms fighting, per the title. And the most controversial issue of the month might be Gwenpool, a new five-issue series that resurrects Gwen Stacy as a new, Weapon-X inspired Gwenpool.
Over in the Ultimate Universe, Wolverine is reunited with Sabretooth. Ultimate Spider-Man finds Peter and his son Richard stuck in the middle of a war between the Sinister Six. And in The Ultimates #12, the team breaks up.
The blockbuster Aliens vs. Avengers wraps up with the fourth issue in May. Meanwhile, Star Wars #1 restarts the comics saga in the period after Return of the Jedi. Steve Orlando continues his multiple runs on Scarlet Witch with a new five-issue miniseries reuniting her with The Vision, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their wedding. Orlando also pens Venom: Original Sin, a new series that finds Venom accidentally changing time. Tony Fleecs tackles a classic tale of Ben Grimm in The Thing #1. Greg Pak celebrates the Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special, with three stories. And It’s Jeff: Jeff Week collects a dozen infinity comics featuring your favorite Land Shark.
