DC Go Launches Vertical Comics For DC:

DC is going vertical this November with DC GO!, a new webcomic format launching on the DC Universe Infinite service.

As part of the launch, DC will reformat classic issues of DC and MAD Magazines fit for a vertical phone screen, a la Marvel’s Infinity Comics, or the grandaddy, Webtoon. Along with the retrofitted classics, there will also be entirely new titles including a romance comedy titled Harley Quinn in Paradise, a fantasy series titled Renaissance of Raven, and — I swear this is not a joke — an action comic titled Nothing Butt Nightwing, which finds Dick Grayson going undercover as an underwear model.

The first classic comic to join the vertical collection will be Batman: Hush, by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. That will debut early, on October 17. DC is teasing subsequent vertical releases, including All-Star SupermanSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and many more for the DC GO! format to come.

Deniz Camp Reveals New Ultimate Hawkeye Is Non-Binary:

The new Ultimate Hawkeye, Charli Ramsey, made a splash for being of Indigenous heritage in Marvel’s Ultimates #5. However, they have another claim to fame: they’re non-binary.

Writer Deniz Camp revealed the info on X (formerly Twitter) in response to questions from readers. Said Camp: “There have been a lot of questions about Charli’s gender and I’m wary to talk about this stuff outside the book itself. It feels a bit like cheating. But I know it means a lot to people, so I wanted to make a comment.

“When I did my research into the water protectors/Standing Rock, something that was emphasized again and again was the importance of queer and “‘two spirit’ organizers to the movement. I wanted to put that into the book.

“So, yes, Charli’s pronouns are they/them. I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, because it’s not in the book itself, and because I don’t think Charli would make a big deal out of it in that context. But we’ll make this explicit when it’s natural to the narrative.”

So after we made a big deal about it with this news item, let’s just leave it on this: great job, Camp. Looking forward to more from Charli.

SilverHawks Expands The ThunderVerse From Dynamite:

Move over, ThunderCats, here come the SilverHawks. The sister series to the thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder cats will launch from Dynamite, writer Ed Brisson, and artist George Kambadais in 2025.

SilverHawks focuses on a “grizzled space cop Stargazer, and the team he assembles to deal with the galactic threat unleashed by the escape from Limbo of Mon*Star and his mobs across the stars.”

The property came from Rankin/Bass as “an extension” of ThunderCats, but “with a cosmic setting and tone.” While no specific plans were announced, Dynamite does indicate that ThunderCats and SilverHawks — as well as any potential spinoffs — will be under the same “umbrella.” Meaning crossovers are possible in the future for both titles in what is now being called the ThunderVerse.

The first issue will hit stores in January of 2025.
