Top 11 Marvel Comics For July 2024

Best Marvel Comics July 2024

It’s July and you know what that means: X-Men, baby! After taking literally no break at all, the Marvel Comics for July 2024 are dominated by new X-men titles, kicking off the Tom Brevoort era, after the end of the Krakoa era (Krakoa was the previous editor of the books, and/or the X-Men now live on Tom Brevoort).

Don’t worry, there’s a lot more going on than just X-Men books. You’ve got the end of Blood Hunt, a controversial sequel, and much more. Here are our 11 most anticipated titles of the month, presented in chronological release order.

1. Spider-Man: Reign 2 #1

Spider-Man: Reign II Kaare Andrews cover

Release Date: July 3, 2024

Probably the most controversial Spider-Man story in history (arguable), Kaare Andrews returns to the dark future world of Spider-Man: Reign for what seems like it should be an unnecessary sequel. But it’s also a must-read, just to see if they can top the whole “Mary Jane dying of [redcated]” thing from the first series.

2. X-Men #1

X-Men #1 (2024) cover

Release Date: July 10, 2024

X gonna give it to ya from writer Jed MacKay and artist Ryan Stegman, as Cyclops leads a team of mutants tasked with doing the classic X-Men thing: rescuing new mutants, and protecting humans in a world that hates and fears them. Also, they’re in Alaska now.

3. Phoenix #1

Phoenix #1 cover

Release Date: July 17, 2024

The next week after the debut of X-Men #1, we get to find out what Cyclops’ wife is up to. Why, she’s headed into space, of course, from writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Alessandro Miracolo.

4. Namor #1

Namor #1 cover

Release Date: July 17, 2024

Jason Aaron has been on a tear lately, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon given this miniseries focusing on everyone’s favorite underseas jerk. The goal here is to redefine what’s going on under the seas, and nobody is better than coming up with that sort of thing than Aaron, so should be a good time in the ol’ comic book shop.

5. The Invincible Iron Man #20

The Invincible Iron Man #20 cover

Release Date: July 17, 2024

The Iron Man and Emma Frost romance has been a surprise favorite here at Comic Book Club, and it all comes to a close — maybe — along with this run on Iron Man — maybe — in this issue. Anyway, can’t wait to find out how hard my heart is gonna get broken.

6. Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #1

Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #1 cover

Release Date: July 17, 2024

Elektra spins off into her own series, and given this is written by Erica Schultz, who crushed it on the Gang War mini, this is going to be a must-read as well. Hey, that’s the whole idea of this list!

7. NYX #1

NYX #1 cover

Release Date: July 24, 2024

Writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, and artist Francesco Mortarino take on the 20-something and teen mutants living in NYC, which is intriguing on its own. But they’ll also be going up against something called The Krakoan, who can’t seem to let the previous era go.

8. X-Force #1

X-Force #1 cover

Release Date: July 31, 2024

Whoa, hey, it’s another X-Men book! This time Forge leads an X-treme team of mutants to fight a horrifying vision he’s seen of the future.

9. Ultimate Spider-Man #7

Ultimate Spider-Man #7 cover

Release Date: July 31, 2024

This has quickly (well, I guess over seven months) become arguably the number one Marvel comic book hitting stands, with its remix of the classic Spider-Man origin story. With the first arc in the rearview mirror, it’ll be interesting to see what Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto have in store for Peter “Great power, but only some responsibility” Parker.

10. Marvel & Disney: What If…? Donald Duck Became Wolverine #1

What If Donald Duck Became Wolverine #1 cover

Release Date: July 31, 2024

Long titles aside, this seems like this will be the wacky heir to What The…? we’ve all been waiting for. No? Nobody was waiting for that? Okay, then.

11. Blood Hunt #5

Blood Hunt #5 cover

Release Date: July 31, 2024

The vampire event comes to a close, and as usual, it’s promising to set up something new in Marvel’s forever story. What is that new thing? We’ll find out at the end of the month.
