‘Something Is Killing The Children’ #0 Celebrates Five Years By Going Back To The Start

Something is Killing the Children #0

Five years ago, BOOM! Studios debuted Something is Killing the Children, written by James Tynion IV with art by Werther Dell’Edera. And now, the creative team is going back to the start to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the title with BOOM! Studios’ first-ever zero issue for an original series.

“It’s a real thrill to be going back to the very beginning, and telling a story that I never thought I’d be able to tell,” said writer and co-creator James Tynion IV via press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Something is Killing the Children #0 is going to be one to remember, a comic worthy of a fifth anniversary!”

In the current issues of the series, readers have been following Erica Slaughter on done-in-one missions that took place before we met her in the initial issue of Something is Killing the Children. Essentially “Year One” for Erica, that ends in the zero issue, which finds her on a “brutal hunt” before arriving in Archer’s Peak — and ends with her walking out of the woods to meet a girl waiting by a red wagon, the beginning of the series.

“We have devoted most of the year to telling Erica’s earliest stories,” added artist and co-creator Werther Dell’Edera. “With issue zero, we complete the tour.”

The issue features a main cover by Dell’Edera, and variant covers by Jenny Frison, Dan Mora, Jeff Dekal, Jae Lee, Sean Gordon Murphy, and more. It will hit stores on September 25, 2024.
