Top 11 Image Comics For June 2024

Best Image Comics June 2024

As usual, the new Image Comics for June 2024 are a wild array of licensed properties, big ideas, and huge returns.

At the top of that list? The blockbuster Energon Universe from Skybound continues to expand with Scarlett, focusing on the classic G.I. Joe character. Meanwhile, Transformers and Void Rivals continue, and will also presumably continue to sell extremely well.

But the biggest release of the month is probably the return of The Department of Truth, which comes back to stands after a very long break with a new arc and some big mythological implications for the hit series.

There’s plenty more coming from the publisher, though. Read on for our picks of the 11 most-anticipated Image Comics of June, arranged by release date order.

1. Scarlett #1

Scarlett #1

Release Date: June 5, 2024

Every series in the Energon Universe has been a banger so far, so I’d expect the new five-issue Scarlett miniseries will be no different… Particularly with Kelly Thompson on writing, and Marco Ferrari on art.

2. Falling In Love On The Path To Hell #1

Falling in Love on the Path to Hell #1

Release Date: June 5, 2024

Gerry Duggan and Garry Brown’s new book takes its time in the first issue, but the premise — a samurai and a gunslinger end up on a strange, LOST-esque island full of warriors — and Brown’s excellent art are both worth the slow burn.

3. Precious Metal #1

Precious Metal #1

Release Date: June 5, 2024

One of the more stunning books of recent years was Little Bird, an action/sci-fi book that had a ton to say about religion at the same time. This prequel series digs in even further, with the stand-out being Ian Bertram’s jaw-dropping art throughout.

4. Griz Grobus

Griz Grobus

Release Date: June 5, 2024

Speaking of sci-fi and religion, this graphic novel from Simon Roy was already a hit on Kickstarter — so why not check it out from Image Comics, too?

5. Remote Space #1

Remote Space #1

Release Date: June 12, 2024

Moving on from sci-fi and religion, this book deals with how cybernetically augmented humans and genetically modified humans need to team up to avert a climate crisis. Good thing that’s not happening in the real world!

6. Rifters #1

Rifters #1

Release Date: June 12, 2024

Joe Trohman and Brian Posehn craft a time travel comedy that they’re billing as Time Cop meets Law & Order. As long as one person does the splits, and another puts some boxes in a truck while being interrogated, mission accomplished.

7. Self-Help #1

Self Help #1

Release Date: June 19, 2024

While Image is a little cagey about the premise of this one, it seems like Dave but with a self-help guru instead of the President. And that’s fun! I like fun.

8. Dandelion

Dandelion

Release Date: June 19, 2024

Ms. Marvel‘s Sabir Pirzada launches a sci-fi graphic novel with a bonkers array of artists including Martín Morazzo, Vanessa R. Del Rey, and more. It’s worth it for the art alone, as we like to say here.

9. Misery #1

Misery #1

Release Date: June 19, 2024

Todd McFarlane and Szymon Kudrański team up for the tale of Spawn’s daughter, now grown up and dealing with both powers and mental health issues.

10. The One Hand #5

The One Hand #5

Release Date: June 19, 2024

While the paired series The Six Fingers won’t end until next month, this book wraps up here and I’m exceedingly curious to see what happens with this sci-fi horror/noir… And how much it tees up Six Fingers #5, versus ending on its own terms.

11. The Department of Truth #23

The Department of Truth #23

Release Date: June 26, 2024

The last regular issue of Department of Truth came out in November of 2022, so the real conspiracy theory here is: what took so long? Granted, James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds have been a little busy with other projects. But as one of the few blockbuster comic book series of the modern age, it’s been away for a while… So it’s exciting to finally have this book back.
