Brainiac And Green Lantern Get Compact Comics:
Just in time for Man of Tomorrow to hit theaters, DC Comics is adding two more titles to the Compact Comics line, both by Geoff Johns: Superman: Brainiac, and Green Lantern: Rebirth.
Per ICv2, both books will hit on June 1, 2027, about a month before the Superman sequel hits theaters featuring both the villain Brainiac, and two flavors of Green Lantern, though not the one featured in the associated book.
Superman: Brainiac will include Action Comics #866-#870 by Johns and Gary Frank, as well as the Superman: New Krypton Special, featuring the 2008 storyline that redefined the alien baddie.
Meanwhile, the Rebirth Compact Comic will include all six issues of Green Lantern: Rebirth, which brought back Hal Jordan, as well as the first six issues of the Green Lantern comic that followed. This features art by Carlos Pacheco and Ethan Van Sciver, the latter of which has in following years has become a toxic presence and a leader of the ComicsGate movement.
While one would have expected the Rebirth book to get released tied into HBO’s Lanterns, as far as has been reported only Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart will be in the movie. So you can skip that one for textual and ethical reasons.
Swamp Thing Is Killing The Children Details Revealed:
As surprise announced at last year’s New York Comic Con, Something is Killing the Children is crossing over with DC’s Swamp Thing, in the first ever crossover for BOOM! Studios‘s Slaughterverse. And we’ve finally got the debut date and synopsis to prove it’s all actually happening.
Hitting stores in December, the 64-page one-shot will be by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, aka the team from SiKTC. And the meta-premise finds two siblings who are fans of horror comics discovering the characters on the pages are coming to life, and it’s up to Erica Slaughter to hunt them down… Including Swamp Thing.
Swamp Thing is Killing the Children #1 hits stores on December 2, 2026, with a price point of $8.99.
Tapas Webtoon Platform To Be Shut Down In North America:
Tapas, a rival platform to WEBTOON, is being shut down in North America.
The news comes as parent company Kakao Entertainment is consolidating its webtoon — the format, not the company — platform and web novel platform into one page internationally. As a side effect, they’ll be shutting down both Kakao Webtoon and Tapas in the United States.
On social media, fans and users of the platform lamented yet another comics platform disappearing, though no end date has been announced at this time.
