This is Comic Book Club News for September 17, 2026.

Highlander Original Screenplay Gets Comic Book Adaptation:

Back in 1986, movie theaters were taken by storm by a fantasy flick titled Highlander, about a guy who chops off people’s heads and steals their energy. But the original screenplay by Gregory Widen was extremely different than what was seen on screen… And now it will get an official adaptation from Titan Comics.

Written by Widen with art by Szymon Kudranski, Highlander: The Original Screenplay is a four-issue series reimagining what could have been. The story still follows “the immortal Connor MacLeod as he lives through the centuries facing off against rivals for the mysterious prize.” But as for whether it will set up the events of the shlock sequel Highlander 2: The Quickening? Probably not.

You can find out yourself when Highlander: The Original Screenplay #1 slices its way into stores on December 2, 2026.

Oni Press Introduces New Frankenstein Detective Comic:

Frankenstein is so hot right now, and that won’t stop any time soon with Oni’s Prometheus Graft: The Slayings At Death’s End, a new murder mystery starring Frankenstein’s monster himself.

Written by George Northy with art by Caitlin Yarsky, the new series takes place decades after his creation, as the monster has reinvented himself as Europe’s number one detective. That is until he’s summoned to Death’s End in Romania, where the “immortal lord has assembled Europe’s most feared supernatural beings to broker a long-lasting peace. But their fragile treaty will soon be shattered when the corpse of one of the prominent guests is found murdered in the castle’s hedge maze… turning witch against werewolf and vampire against ghoul as suspicion and bloodshed spiral.”

Prometheus Graft: The Slayings at Death’s End #1 hits stores on December 9, 2026.

Archie Shelves Two Facsimile Editions:

Originally planned for release this year, Archie Comics has shelved two facsimile editions, to be released at a later date: Life With Archie #1 and Archie’s Madhouse #1.

The news comes via 13th Dimension, along with the paired news that Archie is releasing a Winter Special digest that will reprint old material in December.

However, this comes at an odd time for the publisher, with Oni launching its own line of Archie Comics, and the only new material seemingly coming from the publisher a pirate story from Shaquille O’Neal. Will these facsimiles eventually see the light of day? More on this as it develops.
