Wondering why Paul Chadwick’s Concrete wasn’t on the list of Compact Editions that Dark Horse Comics announced yesterday? Well, that’s likely because today the publisher announced they’ll be bringing the lauded series back to print for the first time in twenty years with Concrete Omnibus, a series of massive collections including all seven volumes, one-shots, short stories, and the currently being released Stars Over Sand.
Starting with Concrete Omnibus Volume 1, the book will collect what was previously published in Depths and Heights, and will run 544 pages. The paperback will cost $39.99, and hit stores on June 1, 2027.
Check out the cover and official synopsis below.
Part man, part . . . rock? Over seven feet tall and weighing over a thousand pounds, he is known as Concrete but is in reality one Ronald Lithgow trapped inside a shell of stone, a body that allows him to walk unaided on the ocean’s floor, survive the crush of rubble in a collapsed mineshaft, or solo climb Mount Everest with nothing but his wits . . . but prevents him from feeling the touch of a human hand. These tales of Concrete are as rich and satisfying as any in comics: funny, heartbreaking, and singularly human.
