This is Comic Book Club News for September 10, 2026.

Absolute Batman Tops August’s Best-Selling Comics:

In a surprise to nobody, Absolute Batman once again topped the single issue sales charts.

Per ICv2, Absolute Batman #23 was the top-selling comic of August, with Batman #12 hot on its heels at number two. Rounding out the top five were Absolute Green Arrow #4, Absolute Superman #22, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 at number five.

In total, DC Comics only captured 16 of the Top 50 on the chart, down quite a bit from previous months. By contrast, Marvel took 25 slots total, with Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil and Queen in Black also popping into the Top 10.

However, this is also far from the chokehold the two publishers held on the Top 50 in previous months, meaning there was room for other publishers. Image Comics ranked highest at number 15 for Transformers #35, and grabbed seven slots total. Dynamite charted with Ben 10 #4 at number 22, while IDW took two slots for Hello Kitty at number 24, and the 300th issue of TMNT at number 37.

Fury Of Firestorm Extended To 15 Issues:

DC Comics‘ Fury of Firestorm is exploding into extra issues. Originally planned as an eight issue run, then extended to nine issues, the Jeff Lemire written, Rafael de Latorre series will now run 15 issues.

Said Lemire via press release, “The Fury of Firestorm has been one of those dream projects that just keeps giving. Much like the Firestorm matrix, the story has taken on a life of its own and just keeps expanding into new and unexpected directions.”

Fury of Firestorm #6 is in stores now, and ends with a big, wild cliffhanger. Spoilers past this point, but Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein join together as Firestorm, and destroy the Firestorm matrix, flying into the sun. Only thing: the issue ends with a massive, fire-beast looking Firestorm emerging from the desert, back on Earth.

So what’s next for the series? Added Lemire: “If you think the end of issue 6 was crazy, wait until you see what we do next.”

Pokémon Meets The Boys In New Image Comics Series:

As we all know, you gotta catch ’em all. But what Image Comics new series Creature Corps presupposes is: what if you had to kill them all, instead?

Written by Curt Pires with art by JOK (not to be confused with Jock), the series is teased as “’90s creature-battling paired with the sharp, ultra-violent satire of The Boys.” So, Pokémon, but violent. Here’s the official synopsis:

In 1999, time broke and the Calamity Creatures arrived. Creatures from a desolate tomorrow, it took mankind no time to start battling them, and even less time for it to turn into the largest for profit sporting event since the UFC: Creature Corps. Dusty Gotem was 14 years old when he became Creature Corps world champion… and then walked away in disgust. Seventeen years later, he’s in hiding—until a time quake strikes and leaves his mother injured with massive medical bills. There’s only one way to save her: reunite his team, and become Creature Corps world champion again. Let the games begin.

Creature Corps #1 hits stores on Wednesday, December 2.
