First created for Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Symbie has transcended his Disney Jr. origins to become a supporting cast-member in Amazing Spider-Man for Marvel. And now the adorable little symbiote will get his official origin story from writer Joe Kelly and artist David Baldeón, in the appropriately titled one shot Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie.
“From the moment I saw the Symbie design from the Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends show team, I was giddy – both because he’s adorable and also oddly… sinister,” Kelly said via press release. “There’s something intriguing about a symbiote in the Marvel Universe that runs around without a host… it’s weird and unnerving, right? Even when it’s adorable, maybe moreso because it’s adorable. That is a fun character – layered and built to subvert expectations. Much like Symbie himself, this book is funny, layered, surprisingly dark, and flat out weird. It’s a blast.”
Along with the main story, the one-shot will also feature a new backup story by Jacob Chabot, writer and artist of the It’s Symbie Infinity Comic.
Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie #1 hits stores on December 9, 2026. Check out the synopsis, covers by Pepe Larraz, David Baldeón and Pere Pérez, and solicit info below.
