DC Comics‘ Fury of Firestorm is exploding into extra issues. Originally planned as an eight issue run, then extended to nine issues, the Jeff Lemire written, Rafael de Latorre series will now run 15 issues.
“The Fury of Firestorm has been one of those dream projects that just keeps giving,” said Lemire via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Much like the Firestorm matrix, the story has taken on a life of its own and just keeps expanding into new and unexpected directions.”
Fury of Firestorm #6 is in stores today, and ends with a big, wild cliffhanger. Spoilers past this point, but Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein join together as Firestorm, and destroy the Firestorm matrix, flying into the sun. Only thing: the issue ends with a massive, fire-beast looking Firestorm emerging from the desert, back on Earth.
So what’s next for the series? “If you think the end of issue 6 was crazy, wait until you see what we do next,” Lemire teased. And indeed, Lemire De Latorre, as well as Marcelo Maiolo, and Lucas Gattoni will continue on the book through 2027.
