19 Most Anticipated DC Comics For September 2026

I gotta be honest, I try to be picky with these lists. But holy heck there are a lot of amazing comics coming from DC Comics in September 2026, which is why you see the list of 19 comics below.

That includes lots of crossover stuff including a Batman event, a Superman event, and a Wonder Woman event. It also includes plenty of big Absolute Universe titles. And even some regular comics, as well. And if you can believe it, I did get sort of choosey, for real.

1. Batman #13

Release Date: September 2, 2026

While the Bad Seeds event is taking over all the Gotham City books (more on those in a moment), if you’re being frugal you probably want to limit yourself to Batman and Poison Ivy, which are written by event architects Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson, respectively. Here, Fraction is joined by Matteo Scalera for what DC calls a “crucial” chapter of the event.

2. Batman / Superman / Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

The event of a lifetime, Weird Al teams up with Superman and Batman — or rather attempts to save them — from a crisis from the fifth dimension. Dare to be awesome, more like it.

3. The Deadman #4

Release Date: September 2, 2026

One of the most creative books on the stands, W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo, and the rest of the gang from Ice Cream Man have been sending the title character on an existential journey, this time to Heaven.

4. The Doom Patrol #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Darcy Van Poelgeest and Niko Henrichon is the sort of team I would pick up no matter what. On Doom Patrol? Buddy, I’m already sleeping out at the comic book shop.

5. Legion Of Super-Heroes #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Possibly the most hyped of this month’s releases, Joshua Williamson and Hayden Sherman team up for a brand new take on the teens of the future. What I’ve seen of Sherman’s designs are stunning, and Williamson is clearly all in on the material. We’ll see if it lives up to the hype, for Legion fan’s sakes alone.

6. Superman: The Stranger #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Wes Craig takes Superman back to the beginning for this Black Label tale, imagining what if he followed up on the origin of Superman and then went from there. For more on this, you can listen to our podcast chat with Craig.

7. Teen Titans #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Kye Higgins and Daniele Di Nicuolo introduce a new team of Titans for a new generation. For more on this, listen to our podcast chat with Higgins.

8. Batman: Bad Seeds – Gotham Central #1

Release Date: September 9, 2026

Christopher Cantwell and Jacob Phillips team up to bring back Gotham Central in the middle of the Bad Seeds event. Good team, should be a good book!

9. Absolute Cassandra Cain: The Shadow’s Hand #1

Release Date: September 16, 2026

Spinning out of Absolute Catwoman while that title takes a break for a month, this one-shot focuses on the Absolute Universe version of Cassandra Cain, detailing her origin.

10. Absolute Green Arrow #5

Release Date: September 16, 2026

The Absolute Universe’s hottest mystery is: who is Green Arrow? Things are getting downright nasty in this title, and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

11. Batman Day: Batman Of Two Worlds #1

Release Date: September 19, 2026

Okay, maybe this is the most hyped issue of the month, as the team from Absolute Batman and the team from Regular Ol’ Batman each give their own interpretation of the same case. Expect some sort of surprise in store, too!

12. Joe Kubert: 100 Years – A Life In Covers #1

Release Date: September 16, 2026

Per the title, celebrate Kubert with this collection of covers, as well as facsimiles and collections released the same week.

13. Wonder Woman #37

Release Date: September 16, 2026

After a pretty excellent two-issue fill-in, we’re back with the Wonder War storyline as Trinity and Steve Trevor travel back in time to stop The Matriarch. There’s also a Matriarch special if you’re not sick of the villain later this month.

14. Absolute Batman #24

Release Date: September 23, 2026

Meet Absolute Batgirl (or whatever they’re calling her) in this issue as a packed title gets even more packed.

15. Absolute Wonder Woman #24

Release Date: September 23, 2026

The best damn Absolute Universe book continues pitting Diana versus the gods. No biggie.

16. The Nice House By The Sea #12

Release Date: September 23, 2026

This second “nice house” series has been heating up to a crazy degree, laying out a ton of mythology and putting every character in the extensive cast on the chopping block. Will it lead into a third series? We’ll find out here.

17. Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #12

Release Date: September 30, 2026

After years of anticipation, Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Scott Godlewski finally finish their Superman epic with this issue.

18. Batman: Bad Seeds – Gotham General #1

Release Date: September 30, 2026

Greg Rucka co-created Gotham Central, so naturally he’s… Writing about the hospitals during the Bad Seeds event instead? Huh!

19. Superman: Kingdom Of Zod Special #1

Release Date: September 30, 2026

The event ends here and promises to shake things up in a big way for the Superman family.
