13 Most Anticipated Marvel Comics For September 2026

Lots going on at the ol’ House of Ideas this month as multiple events end, and the world nervously waits for the new Midnight Universe (that’s next month). But in the meantime, we’ve got 13 picks for anticipated Marvel Comics coming in September of 2026.

Those include a lot of Fantastic Four stuff, including a crossover event with X-Men, the end of another crossover, and the landmark Amazing Spider-Man #1000. Without wasting too much time, here’s our picks, presented in chronological release order.

1. Black Panther / Namor: Doomed #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Last time three kings got together like this it was to give gifts to a baby. This time? The gift is all yours, my friend.

2. Fantastic Four #16

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Ryan North has been on an absolute heater with this title lately, delivering some of the most creative, exciting, heartfelt Fantastic Four stories of all time. Will that continue in September? Probably!

3. Marvel Mangaverse: Web Of Blood #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Throughout the month, Marvel will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mangaverse, kicking off with this book by Joe Kelly and his son, Jack Kelly. Do you remember the Mangaverse? Have affection for it? Regardless, Kelly (the elder) has been on a roll with Amazing Spider-Man, so this is worth a pick-up for sure.

4. Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1

Release Date: September 2, 2026

Ann Nocenti returns and Dan Watters gives us a preview of his upcoming run on Spider-Woman in this anthology special.

5. Doomquest #4

Release Date: September 9, 2026

I’m clearly in the tank for Ryan North on Fantastic Four stuff, but this mini has been absolutely bonkers so far, giving us Doom in a Quantum Leap/Groundhog Day scenario on the Titanic and then turning him into George Washington. What will happen this month? Can’t wait to find out!

6. Avengers: Armageddon #4

Release Date: September 16, 2026

After two issues of build-up, things started to take a turn towards what I think is the main plot last issue, and this penultimate one promises some big changes for the Marvel Universe. Can it deliver?

7. DNX #1

Release Date: September 16, 2026

X-Men crosses over with Fantastic Four in this tight event with just a few tie-in issues, where the villainous 3K race to release a virus that will turn some people into mutants, and kill everyone else.

8. The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1

Release Date: September 23, 2026

[Muppets voice] but where did they take it? Anyway, Jim Henson’s creations meet Marvel heroes in a series os stories mashing up the two properties, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show.

9. Alien Vs. X-Men #1

Release Date: September 30, 2026

The corporate synergy will continue until morale improves! But hey, if they’re gonna do stuff like this, getting Kieron Gillen — one of the best modern X-Men writers — to do it ain’t too shabby.

10. Amazing Spider-Man #1000

Release Date: September 30, 2026

999 issues have all been leading to this! Okay, fine, maybe not, but as mentioned Joe Kelly has been crushing it on ASM, the previous issue had a huge cliffhanger, and there’s a murderer’s row of talent on this including Noah Hawley writing his first comic book story. Here’s to 1000 more!

11. The Amazing Venom #1

Release Date: September 30, 2026

Perhaps a little unfair to stick this on the same day as ASM #1000, but this extension of Jordan Morris’s character who is neither Venom nor Spider-Man should be a lot of fun.

12. Fantastic Four: First Foes – Dragon Man #1

Release Date: September 30, 2026

Greg Pak and Mark Buckingham on a Dragon Man story set in the MCU? ‘Nuff said!

13. Queen In Black #5

Release Date: September 30, 2026

The Queen in Black event ends here, and while it has been an odd one I’m for sure curious to see how they (hopefully) stick the landing, and where the goop side of Marvel will go next.
