Dynamite has announced that three highly anticipated upcoming titles have all been delayed: Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1, Angel #1, and Firefly #1. Orders have been canceled on the first two, and all three will be resolicited for a later date.
Don’t worry, nothing dire is going on… Per Dynamite’s Nick Barrucci, “Writer Kelly Thompson’s story for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel evolved and became more ambitious, so we felt we needed to take a step back and up the page count to meet the story and deliver the best possible product for fans. Buffy #1 and Angel #1 will have significant story page increases from average issues — at no additional cost to readers or retailers. It’s important to Kelly and Dynamite that this is done right and not rushed, so we decided resoliciting both titles is the best way to fully convey these updates across the board.”
So yeah, originally scheduled for July 22, 2026, Buffy #1 is clearly not on stands yet — and neither is Angel #1, which continues the story and was meant to hit this month (for more on that, listen to our podcast with Thompson). Perhaps related to the move, Firefly #1 is also having its orders canceled and resolicited (it was originally supposed to come out on September 2, 2026).
Dynamite also notes that X-Files #1 is still planned for a December 2026 launch, though has yet to specify a new launch date for the three aforementioned titles.
