This is Comic Book Club News for August 20, 2026.
Marvel Preps For Doomsday With Incursion One-Shots:
You may have heard that there’s this movie called Avengers: Doomsday hitting theaters in December. You may have also heard the movie is at least partially based on Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić’s Secret Wars. And in the lead-up to that event was “Time Runs Out,” which found multiversal incursions happening at a rapid rate. So what if you got to see some more of those incursions, in a series of Incursions one-shots?
No need to imagine! Starting in November with X-Men: Incursions #1, Marvel will do throwback one shots of the multiverse match-ups you didn’t get to see. In the first, House of M battles Days of Future Past, with only one marked to survive and Kate Pryde caught in the middle.
That one-shot will be followed by ones focusing on Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men ’92, and Avengers, rolling out through December and January, with exact details on further mash-ups TBA.
Emperor Doom Gets Reprinted:
The Doctor Dooms will continue until morale improves! Marvel will reprint the classic graphic novel Emperor Doom as a new, over-sized one-shot this November.
Per 13th Dimension, this isn’t technically a facsimile edition of the classic tale by David Michelinie and Bob Hall because it will be released in standard comic book size, versus the oversized original edition. However, it will include all 64 pages of the original, iconic 1987 graphic novel that found Doom conquering the world by amplifying the mind control powers of the Purple Man, with only Wonder Man able to escape… And then attempting to free the Avengers to take back the planet.
The reprint will feature a new variant cover by Peach Momoko, as well as another artist TBA, and will hit stores on November 11, 2026, about a month before Doomsday hits theaters.
Godzilla Vs. Everything Coming From IDW:
In a rare non-Doomsday related story, it’s doomsday for IDW’s Kai-Sei universe with Godzilla vs. Everything.
Per Bleeding Cool, the build-up to the crossover will begin October’s titles: Godzilla #13, Starship Godzilla: Invasion X #1, and Godzilla: Revenge of the Deadzone #1, before culminating in Godzilla vs. Everything in March of 2027.
What that actually means is TBA, though it seems like it’ll cross over the Kai-Sei titles, versus, say, Godzilla crossing over into our universe and beating us up. But maybe that will happen?
We’ll have more on this as it develops.
