Star Wars To Cross Over With Marvel:
The House of Ideas has done it again: Star Wars will officially cross over with Marvel in the five-issue series Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles.
Written by Kevin Smith with art by David Marquez, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie, the announcement was light on details, though Lucasfilm and Marvel tease that the events of Star Wars will be happening in Marvel’s main continuity, with the Avengers (and others) seeing the highlights of the original movie happening on earth “after a reality-shattering spell.”
The news was revealed over at EW, which showed off covers including one of The Avengers and Spider-Man teaming up with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance, while Doctor Doom, Thanos, Venom and Ultron are teaming up with Darth Vader. And somewhere, Patton Oswalt is pissed he didn’t get to write this book.
The first issue will hit in January, and the miniseries will conclude in May, along with any original ideas anyone has. Those are done now.
Warren Ellis Is Back At Image Comics:
Six years ago, writer Warren Ellis was accused by multiple people of grooming and sexual coercion. In the wake of these accusations, publishers — including Image Comics — cut ties with the writer. Until now, I guess, as Image has announced a brand new graphic novella by the writer.
Titled Ghost Drive Stations, the graphic novella features art by Lordess Foudre, and focuses on “a haunted investigator with no time for the modern world is sent to a research station in the desert to discover why it’s gone offline. What he finds is an experiment in immortality gone horribly wrong, with stakes both global and very, very personal.” So basically, vintage Ellis, who has walked this sort of ground many times before.
The problem is that in 2021, after the accusations, the 60 members of So Many Of Us, an organization made up of people Ellis had coerced or harassed, offered to work with him to make amends. And Image, as noted, cut ties with Ellis, after announcing the publication of new issues of Ellis’s Fell, stating at the time that, “While finishing Warren Ellis and Ben Templesmith’s Fell is something we’ve been looking forward to for years, Image Comics will not be working with Warren on anything further until he has made amends to the satisfaction of all involved.”
As of 2023, he had not taken any of the steps laid out by the organization. In 2025, Image published a facsimile of Fell, and just last week the publisher announced the collection of one of Ellis’s Wildstorm titles. We have reached out to Image Comics as well as reps for Ellis for comment.
New Dog Man Book Announced:
In lighter news, Scholastic has announced a new Dog Man book is coming in November.
Per ICv2, Dog Man: A Sprinkle in Time is the latest volume of Dav Pilkey’s best-selling graphic novel series. In this one, “Grandpa starts messing with the fabric of time and space,” which seems like a pivot from the superhero-focused past few volumes of the series. Maybe.
A Sprinkle in Time will hit stores on November 3, 2026, and will probably outsell Absolute Batman.
