This is Comic Book Club News for August 11, 2026.
Absolute Batman Tops July Sales Chart:
In an absolute non-shocker, Absolute Batman #22 took the top slot on July’s single issue sales chart.
Per ICv2, DC Comics took 23 slots total on the Top 50 chart, though the Top 10 was far more interesting than usual — which we’ll get to in a second. As for DC, Absolute Green Arrow hit number two, with Absolute Catwoman at number three, Absolute Wonder Woman at number six, and Absolute Superman at number nine.
As for Marvel? Our first surprise is the publisher only took 17 slots on the Top 50, massively down from its previous commanding lead even a year ago, and also down from the relatively even pace it’s kept with DC over the past few months. Queen in Black #1 ranked highest at number five, with Daredevil #4 at number seven and Avengers Armageddon #2 at number 10.
But that left space for Skybound’s Terminal #1 to come in at number four, proving once again that writer Robert Kirkman is a dominant force in the industry. Image took six slots, total, with IDW snagging the number eight slot for TMNT #300. IDW took one more slot for Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla, while Dynamite ranked for Ben 10 #3, and Vault Comics hit the number 23 slot for Dungeon Crawler Carl #0.
Alan Moore Superman Collection Includes Two Previously Uncollected Stories:
Sure there’s the best-selling Absolute Superman, but there’s also DC’s unrelated Absolute Editions. And a new Superman by Alan Moore Absolute collection will include two previously uncollected stories.
The 280-page book will include classics you’d expect like “For the Man Who Has Everything…” and “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” But it will also include “I was Superman’s Double,” from Superman Official Annual and “Protected Species” from The Super Heroes Annual, which have not been previously reprinted.
In addition to the stories, the book will also feature new essays by Dave Gibbons, Rick Veitch, Mark Waid, and Curt Swan, as well as remastered colors, original art, and new art by Veitch and Ryan Sook.
Superman by Alan Moore: Absolute Edition hits stores on April 20, 2027.
TMNT Goes All-Ages With New Graphic Novel:
TMNT is getting a new all-ages graphic novel from Scholastic titled Splinter’s Dojo.
In the novel, Splinter gets fed up with the Turtles and sets up a middle school for them in the sewer, alongside other students like Bebop and Rocksteady.
Interestingly, the new book by Dan & Janson will be a mix of graphic panels and prose, similar to popular series like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and others that the age group — that would be 8-12 — has embraced to stratospheric sales levels.
Will the strategy work? You can find out when Splinter’s Dojo hits stores on September 1.
