This is Comic Book Club News for August 5, 2026.
Teen Titans Team Launches Young Justice Graphic Novel Series:
Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo may be wrapping up their lauded and best-selling Teen Titans graphic novel series with this week’s Teen Titans: Together… But they’re gonna keep that DC Comics YA graphic novel train rolling with a brand new series, kicking off with Young Justice: Kid Flash & Blue Beetle.
Said Picolo, “Fans have been asking for Blue Beetle for years. I’ve shared sketches of both Kid Flash and Blue Beetle on social media, and now we finally have a chance to put them front and center in one of our stories. Young Justice is a new challenge for us, but we’re still focused on the things we love most as storytellers: friendship, everyday life, and helping readers find themselves in these characters. If Teen Titans taught us anything, it’s that fans always surprise us. I wouldn’t be shocked if we start seeing skateboards and rollerblades showing up in cosplay photos before long.”
There is currently no announced publication date for Young Justice: Kid Flash & Blue Beetle, though DC does tease it’s the first of a series.
Absolute Batman And Something Is Killing The Children Are Most Coveted San Diego Comic-Con Variants:
CovrPrice has released a breakdown of variant covers at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with a record-breaking 896 variants available. And of those, Something is Killing the Children and Absolute Batman are top of the list.
Per the company, this is a quantum leap from the past two years, with 560 available in 2024 and 760 available in 2025. At this rate, we could see a double variant cover event in seven days. Just kidding.
As for the best bang for your buck, Something is Killing The Children took the top two slots, as of July 30, with a comic book limited to 50 copies selling for $600 and going for $975, while an embossed printing of Something is Killing the Children #1 sold for $100, and is now going for $658.
Absolute Batman #1 came in at number three for the highly coveted Upper Deck x Show Palace Bundle, which sold for $100 and is now going for $517. And the other big winner was Dungeon Crawler Carl, which snagged three slots on the top 10 including a $100 issue #0 special edition, now going for $500.

IDW’s Hello Kitty Sells Big:
Announced back at ComicsPro, IDW’s Hello Kitty and Friends: Hello World! is a best-seller. Per The Beat, the debut issue has sold over 75,000 copies to comic book stores.
Written by Mariko Tamaki with art by Cody Lemieux, the book marks the first monthly comic for the Sanrio creation. And IDW clearly has a hit on its hands, and will be announcing crossovers, new titles and more in the coming months. Will Hello Kitty join the Kai-Sei universe and meet Godzilla? Honestly? Probably.
