Professor Pyg Comes To Absolute Batman Special:
Are you ready for Absolute Professor Pyg? Well, get ready as announced by DC Comics at San Diego Comic-Con, pig class is in session in the upcoming one-shot Absolute Batman: Beyond Ark M.
Written by Frank Tieri and Scott Snyder, with art by Francesco Francavilla, the one-shot serves as a sequel of Absolute Batman: Ark M, which sort of revealed the origin of the Absolute Joker. Here, readers will meet Professor Pyg, The Joker’s right-hand man, who runs all the Arks — aka horrific prison and experimentation facilities, perfect for a weirdo like Pyg.
Not only will the upcoming special introduce Professor Pyg, but it will also explain the function of all twelve Arks, including Ark M, the one that’s set just outside Gotham City… And naturally, since Ark M has been home to a slew of Batman villains ranging from Poison Ivy and Man-Bat to Clayface and Killer Croc, expect plenty of other villains to show up in the one-shot special, as well as a teased big surprise at the end of the issue.
No release date for the special has been announced at this time.
Wytches Gets Recolored To Match TV Series:
Wytches, the iconic horror comic from Scott Snyder and Jock, is hitting Prime Video… Some time… As an animated series, with a second season already in the works. And before that hits the small screen, you can revisit the original comic with Wytches, Vol. 1: Pledged Edition from Image Comics.
Focusing on a family who moves to a remote town only to discover something horrible is lurking in the woods, the new trade paperback will include Wytches #1-6, Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special, and material from issue #7 of the Image! anthology.
More interesting? The book, per PR from Image, will “feature a significant portion recolored to match the upcoming animated TV series.”
Fingers crossed this edition times out well with the TV series, and isn’t like the new editions of Criminal that Image Comics has been releasing tying into that Prime Video adaptation — which has yet to announce a premiere date.
Wytches, Vol. 1: Pledged Edition hits comic book stores Wednesday, October 21 and book stores on Tuesday, November 17.
Spider-Woman Gets A New Ongoing Series From Marvel:
It’s Spider-Woman’s 50th anniversary, and to celebrate Marvel is launching a new Spider-Woman ongoing series from Dan Watters and Andrea Broccardo. And based on a preview it looks like… She’s Carnage now?
While Marvel isn’t confirming exactly what happens other than a “major development in Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #5 next month where Jessica Drew finds herself in possession of Marvel’s most terrifying supervillain,” the story will continue in the Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1, and then launch into the new ongoing series in November.
In the series, Jessica Drew is investigating strange crimes in New York City, with the tease that it’s a “detective noir story” that has “horror and gore.”
Spider-Woman #1 hits stores on November 4, 2026.
