11 Most Anticipated Image Comics For August 2026

Image Comics is back at it again — it being “publishing comics” — in August of 2026, with plenty of intriguing titles to choose from.

That includes new stuff (and some reprints) from the Energon Universe, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani jumping ship to join Image Comics, and even the return of Bug Wars.

1. Chachu #1

Release Date: August 5, 2026

Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani tries her hand at solo comic book writing not about Ms. Marvel with this neat, beautifully drawn noir book with art by Marianna Ignazzi. For more on this, listen to our interview with Vellani.

2. Death Vigil #1

Release Date: August 5, 2026

Stjepan Šejić returns to one of his (I think?) non-sexual comic books with a story about the never-ending fight between good and evil.

3. Regicide #1

Release Date: August 5, 2026

This book is pitched as “Dracula meets Beserk” and honestly, say less. Side-note: based on some alternate covers, this looks wildly NSFW.

4. Yumi: 00EX #1

Release Date: August 12, 2026

Doug Wagner, in a rare non-collaboration with Daniel Hillyard, brings on the story of a woman looking for her missing boyfriend by invading M16 and teaming up with an insane AI.

5. Bug Wars: The Coming Of Wardoom #1

Release Date: August 19, 2026

Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar’s Bug Wars returns with a new arc that pits our tiny heroes against the threat of squirrels. And yes, there will be nudity and violence (note: squirrels are always nude).

6. G.I. Joe #25

Release Date: August 19, 2026

This title has been a ton of fun every issue, and in this one things come to a head as G.I. Joe battles another (sort of) G.I. Joe.

7. Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #12

Release Date: August 19, 2026

The fight between Battle Beast and Conquest continues into a third issue, and so far it’s been an absolute blast.

8. The Lucky Devils #9

Release Date: August 19, 2026

Charles Soule and Ryan Browne’s creative meditation on sin comes to an end in this issue, and so does sin. No more sin! Great news!

9. Hammerfist #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

A sad sack loser has to save his daughter by using a weapon powered by love. What is this, a Rick Remender book? Oh, it is? And Steve Epting is doing the art? Rad.

10. ROM Special #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

In case you missed it in the surprise blind bags with M.A.S.K. #1, ya boy the Space Knight is back in this one-shot special that presages his appearance in Void Rivals.

11. Witchblade/Vampirella #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

Dynamite and Top Cow team up for a one-shot (well, two-shot, there’s another team-up coming from Dynamite, this is the Top Cow part) with Sara Pezzini and Vampirella fighting after Sara gets bit by a vampire.
