10 Most Anticipated DC Comics For August 2026

DC Comics is on a tear lately, and even in the doldrums of summer that doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Basically, you’ve got nothing but bangers coming from the publisher, which is why it’s difficult to narrow things down to the 10 most anticipated DC Comics for August 2026.

But because not all heroes wear capes, I did indeed narrow things down to 10 must pick-up titles. That includes Absolute Universe books, at least two big events, and much more. So let’s get into it, presenting the titles in chronological release order.

1. Absolute Superman #22

Release Date: August 5, 2026

Jason Aaron has been crushing it with this title, and in this issue he reunites with artist Juan Ferreyra to tackle the menace of the Absolute Universe’s body horror Brainiac. Should be gross!

2. Batman #12

Release Date: August 5, 2026

Who is Verity Pennyworth? Prepare to find out in this issue of Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez’s run on Batman, which has presented unique adventures every issue.

3. The Deadman #3

Release Date: August 5, 2026

The Next Level initiative rom DC Comics has been generally a success, but there’s nothing wilder than the team from Image Comics Ice Cream Man tackling Deadman. Weird, mystical, and infinitely creative, this is unlike anything else on the stands, and stands up as a testament to the creative-team forward approach of the label.

4. Absolute Batman #23

Release Date: August 12, 2026

Every issue of the biggest title in comics is a must pick up, and this one is no exception as Batman takes on Clayface, Robins, maybe Scarecrow too, who knows?

5. Batman And Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos #1

Release Date: August 12, 2026

Mark Waid and Chris Samnee are back in action with a sequel to their throwback series early in the careers of Batman and Robin. Here, they tangle with Catwoman and her own protégé.

6. Supergirl #16

Release Date: August 12, 2026

Rolling throughout the Superman family of titles this month and next, the Kingdom of Zod event finds Zod taking over the Kryptonite kingdom of El Caldero, which is bad news for everyone. But it all starts here in Supergirl! Yeah!

7. Absolute Green Arrow #4

Release Date: August 19, 2026

The mystery of the Green Arrow killer heats up with the introduction of… Solomon Grundy? This excellent mystery from Pornsak Pitcheshote and Rafael Albuquerque is going in some wild directions I can’t wait to check out.

8. Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

Not content with just a Superman event, DC has a Gotham City one as well, as Mayor Poison Ivy decides she’s fed up with Gotham and decides to do what she does best: destroy it. The event kicks off here from Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson, and continues through all the Gotham City titles, as well as several spinoffs and one-shots.

9. Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

Ram V and Mike Perkins team up for a new Vertigo title that’s described as Slow Horses with magic. For more you can listen to our interview with Ram V about the title, but: sounds rad!

10. Next Level: One Shot #1

Release Date: August 26, 2026

Gerry Duggan and Fernando Blanco take on Deadshot in this, er, one-shot which teases there may be more of an over-arching story to the Next Level titles than we suspected.
