Michael Walsh To Write And Draw Jonah Hex:
Michael Walsh is writing and drawing Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death, a new horror title for DC Comics coming this October.
As announced at DC’s San Diego Comic-Con Next Level panel, the six-issue series will head back to the Wild West for a horror infused tale of the scarred bounty hunter. Here’s the official synopsis, per DC: “In a small town called Ashecott, something evil has arrived. Something more dangerous than a gunslinger, more sinister than an outlaw, and older than the town it seeks to infect. Something from a world beyond the only one its victims have ever known. Something darker. Unfortunately for that evil, Jonah Hex has taken notice. Not just of the otherworldly entities surrounding his home, or the child with mysterious abilities they seek to capture—but also of the chance to finally redeem himself.”
Walsh previously tackled the stand-out horror series The Silver Coin for Image, and Universal Monsters: Frankenstein for Skybound. As for Jonah Hex, this marks the first time since 2011 he’s headlined his own series.
Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death #1 hits stores on October 7.
Matthew Rosenberg Takes Over TMNT:
Big things are going down in the world of IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: with issue #25, Matthew Rosenberg is picking up the nunchucks left behind by Gene Luen Yang as the new writer of the title.
Not only will Rosenberg take over as the writer of the title, but Juann Cabal will join as artist. And based on the scant description, it sounds like Rosenberg and Cabal are doing The Warriors, but with the Turtles, as they present “a thrilling story as the greatest roster of villains, both new and old, have assembled to hunt down the Turtles over the course of a single night.”
Before you cry foul — or turtle — about Yang leaving the title, he has other, creator-owned commitments. And as for Rosenberg, what this means for his current runs on Spawn and King Spawn is TBA.
No release date has been announced for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #25, but expect some time in December.
Jason Aaron And Aaron Kuder Take On Indiana Jones:
In a move only surprising in that it didn’t happen five to ten years ago, Indiana Jones is back in action from Marvel Comics. The five-issue series, titled Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium will be written by Jason Aaron with art by Aaron Kuder, reuniting the team from Avengers Forever.
Said Aaron via press release. “This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven. Dark events were set in motion that day, strange new enemies have risen from the shadows, and for Indy and Marion Ravenwood the globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, and death-defying escapades, not to mention the archaeology, have just begun.”
Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium #1 hits stores on December 9, 2026.
