In a move only surprising in that it didn’t happen five years ago, as just announced by Marvel Comics’ Outgoing Editor-in-Chief and Editor, Asia Originals C.B. Cebulski at the Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Indiana Jones is back in action. The five-issue series, titled Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium will be written by Jason Aaron with art by Aaron Kuder, reuniting the team from Avengers Forever.
“I’ve wanted to adventure alongside Indiana Jones since I was 8 years old, to climb through ancient crypts and run for my life in exotic locales, to seek the world’s most fabled treasures. Now here I am, feeling the same sort of joy I felt in 2015, when we launched Star Wars #1,” Aaron said via press release. “This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven. Dark events were set in motion that day, strange new enemies have risen from the shadows, and for Indy and Marion Ravenwood the globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, and death-defying escapades, not to mention the archaeology, have just begun.”
Added Kuder, “I’m very excited to be on this book with Jason Aaron. Indie has always felt like he should be a staple of a comic book character.”
As Marvel notes, this is hot on the heels of the announcement that they’ll be reprinting the original Indiana Jones comics from the ’80s in two deluxe volumes, the sort that belong in a museum, this September.
Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium #1 hits stores on December 9, 2026. Check out the synopsis, covers by Bryan Hitch, Alex Ross, and part of a five-part connecting cover from Kuder, as well as solicit info below.
