Lanzing & Kelly ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Surprise Ongoing Series Coming From Dark Horse

Are you ready for a surprise better than rolling a 20? Dark Horse Comics has hid a secret in the back of today’s issue of Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers #1 (which is an utter delight and you should definitely read)… There’s a new Dungeons & Dragons ongoing series hitting stores this November, from writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, and artist Ibraim Roberson.

After the end of the main story in Total Party Killers, D&D fans are treated to a multi-page preview of the first issue of the comic, which also features contributions from Arabson Oliveira, Dan Brown (not the guy from The DaVinci Code), and Haley Rose Lyon.

While there’s not much more info than that in the issue — presumably a press release officially announcing the title will be coming later today, once the West Coast-based Dark Horse folks wake up — the back-matter of the issue does include this note from Senior Editor Spencer Cushing:

Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing are writing an epic campaign you won’t want to miss, as the titans of the Forgotten Realms — Mordenkainen, Tasha, Volo, and more — come together to stop a draconic apocalypse thousands of years in the making. With mind-boggling art by Ibraim Roberson, Arabson Oliveira, and colorist Dan Brown, you’ll want to preorder Dungeons & Dragons #1 from your local shop with great haste.

Alongside this pleasant surprise, Cushing also teases what I believe is another unannounced title: “And after a long rest, dive into another legendary quest with everyone’s favorite time mage, Teferi Akosa, from Magic the Gathering, in the new series The Made of Zhalfir, also launching in November. Dive into centuries of Teferi’s history through some of the most foundational stories of the Magic multiverse.”

Cool! While we won’t repost the preview pages for Dungeons & Dragons #1 here, you can check them out at your LCS (Local Comic Shop) today in Total Party Killers #1. And you should! The book features a bunch of monsters forming their own D&D party so they can break out of a dungeon, and it’s a blast.
