Dynamite’s Ben 10 has been a huge hit for the publisher, and in advance of San Diego Comic-Con, they’re announcing a sort-of spin-off: Ben 10: Creator Files, a one-shot taking fans behind the scenes of the making of the comic book.
“We wanted to give the Ben 10 readers something really special, a ‘thank you’ for the support they’ve shown the series so far,” said Joe Casey. “This Creator Files issue is jam-packed with extra material — including exclusive first-looks that we just couldn’t wait to show off!”
After the release of Ben 10 #5 in September, wrapping up the first arc, and before things kick off again in November with Ben 10 #6, Man of Action (the folks behind Ben 10) and artist Robert Carey, as well as editor Matt Idelson, witll give a “behind the scenes tour” on the series up to that point.
In the one-shot, you’ll see what goes into making a comic book, from script to art, to colors by Ren Spiller, and letters by Taylor Esposito. Some of what’s in the book will be reprints of the previously published ashcan, including an interview with Casey and character design sketches by Carey. But this will also include more sketches and designs by Carey, as well as a preview of upcoming storylines and the debut of “the next classic villain.”
Features originally presented in the rare and sought-after ashcan will now be shared with all fans, including a special interview with writer Joe Casey as well as a batch of character sketches showcasing Carey’s earliest work on the franchise in preparation for drawing the first issue. In addition, the book will include gallery style pinups, and “more in-continuity ephemera.” Fans love ephemera!
Ben 10: Creator Files will include covers by Robert Carey and Duncan Rouleau, as well as limited signed copies by Casey, orderable by both retailers and fans.
