The Art Of Mike Mignola Gets Collected In ‘Circus Of Bones’

When one is asked to describe the art of Mike Mignola, invariably the first thought that comes to mind is that it’s like a Circus of Bones. Bone clowns, bone lions, bone ringmaster, etc, etc. So of course that’s the title of Act 4’s latest collection of art, based on the upcoming gallery exhibition of Mignola’s work at the Philippe Labaune Gallery in NYC: Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola.

The gallery exhibition features 144 pages of original art, including 53 new watercolor paintings created for the show. And the book includes those watercolors, alongside “60 published covers and pages, and more than 30 new pencil and ink drawings,” scanned from the original art.

“I’m very excited about this book—especially the color pieces,” said Mignola via press release. “All of these are new, done entirely for this show, and represent what I think is some of the best work I’ve done.” 

Added Act 4’s Scott Dunbier, “It’s been thrilling for me to see Mike Mignola’s work evolve over the past 40 years. He went from a very good artist and then to a great one. But these new watercolors are something else entirely, they are extraordinary. He’s moved to another level. I can’t wait to see more.”  

Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola will be available at comic book shops and bookstores everywhere on November 25, 2026, and big tops as well, probably.
