In what has to be the biggest news for either of the Kelce brothers today, Jason Kelce is finally living out his life-long dream of becoming Wolverine in a commercial for X-Men ’97 and Garage Beer. Which means that unfortunately he won’t be able to make any events in New York City, or any other locations in the past, present or future because he’s too busy being the best there is at what he does.
…Sorry, I’m just hearing that YouTube videos are not always “live” or “real” so my mistake there. Instead, it seems more likely they filmed this one minute video in advance. Just posted by Garage Beer, which is co-owned by Jason Kelce, the video reveals they teamed up with Marvel/Disney and X-Men ’97 to post a spot that draws the connection between nostalgia for the cartoon, cold beer, pizza, and hanging with your dudes.
A representative for Garage Beer, who I’m guessing is not at the Taylor/Travis wedding right now unless you can somehow schedule emails in advance, informs Comic Book Club that Disney and Marvel actually approached Garage Beer about coming up with the spot after the success of their self-created fan spoof of Predator that came out around the same time as Predator: Badlands. That spot, though created on spec, was later used in a trailer for Badlands during NFL games.
…Sorry, hearing that you can actually schedule emails. I really wish there was a way to delete text in articles, so I wouldn’t keep embarassing myself like this, but alas, there is not.
Lastly, the Garage Beer reps notes that Jason Kelce has long been an X-Men fan, so this was a natural fit. And now you can watch him play Wolverine in the video below. Now someone get Kevin Feige on the phone, I think we’ve got Hugh Jackman’s replacement!
