This is Comic Book Club News for July 2, 2026.
The Bride Of Frankenstein Rises For Skybound:
Kelly Thompson and Mattia De Iulis are one of the best teams working today, from the superb The Cull to an arc on Absolute Wonder Woman. And now they’re back together again with Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives, the latest miniseries in Skybound and Image’s Universal Monsters line.
Per PR, “Born in the heart of a thunderstorm, made of stolen flesh, electricity, and monstrous desperation—The Bride lives! … With no memory of her past or understanding of what she is, The Bride takes her first steps into this strange new world. With danger seemingly lurking around every corner, she must solve the mystery of where and who she came from…and discover what makes life worth living.”
Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives #1 (of 4) hits stores on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Shueisha Terminates Marvel Agreement:
Shueisha, a Japanese company publishing Marvel Manga, has terminated its agreement with Disney, meaning both digital and print stories will cease this Fall.
Per The Beat, Shueisha will cease print publication on September 30, with digital titles removed starting on September 28. This includes titles like Deadpool: Samurai and Spider-Man: Octo Girl, a book about Doc Ock getting his brain stuck in the body of a Japanese schoolgirl, among others. This does currently only apply to Shueisha titles in Japan, while Viz Media still has them available in the United States.
It is also a bit of odd timing, with Marvel celebrating the otherwise unrelated 25th anniversary of the Mangaverse in September, as well.
Image Comics Opens Retailer Appreciation Nominations:
Image Comics has opened their Image Select Retailer Award for Spring 2026.
The goal of the award is to highlight shops that show, “exemplary customer service,” “thoughtful and exciting handselling recommendations, “efforts fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere,” and of course, robust support for Image Comics. Oh, and other creator-owned comics, too.
Nominations for your local store are open until July 10, and will be announced on July 24 at San Diego Comic-Con.
