No, Neve Campbell Does Not Voice Polaris On ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

X-Men ’97 is back for Season 2, and you know what that means: time to squash some rumors. In this case, it’s one that traces back a year that pegged Scream star Neve Campbell as joining the voice cast in the role of the magnetic mutant Polaris. With Magneto’s daughter popping up in the second of today’s three episodes, we can confidently shoot that one down: Polaris is not voiced by Neve Campbell, she’s voiced by actress Carolina Ravassa.

Feel free to nope out of this article now if that was all you’re interested in, but to dive in a little further, Polaris was originally voiced by Mary Long on X-Men: The Animated Series back in the ’90s. Long has continued to work steadily through the decades, including most recently in a frankly ridiculous number of holiday movies ranging from A Snowy Christmas and Christmas at Maple Creek to Abracadabra and the Christmas Miracle. Hey, it’s a living!

In any case, here’s where things get weird. After Polaris appeared (briefly) in the Season 1 finale of X-Men ’97, mid-May of 2025 a “scooper” (sigh) named MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter posted that Neve Campbell had been cast as Polaris, with no further explanation. While fans speculated about whether she would appear in Avengers: Doomsday or some other live action MCU production, the site ComicBookMovie later “confirmed” that she would be voicing the character on X-Men ’97.

Here’s the even more bizarre part: Beau DeMayo, who was fired off the show a year earlier for “egregious misconduct,” confirmed that Campbell was cast as Polaris, also on Twitter, stating, “She does amazing work bringing something new, and felt right to have a 90s icon pick up where Lorna’s story was left in ‘Cold Comfort.’ She’s got some thoughts on Genosha.”

DeMayo, just to note, is still credited this season as an Executive Producer as well as co-writer of the season’s third episode. While not involved in the production past March of 2024, he had already started work on Season 2, hence the credit.

Back to Polaris! Campbell is not voicing the character, as previously reported, but instead it is Carolina Ravassa in the role. She’s a voice actress best known for voicing Sombra in Overwatch, as well as Carolina on Disney’s Hamster & Gretel. She’s probably best known to Marvel fans as “Corn Dog Vendor” from Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Just kidding, she’s probably slightly better known as the voice of Queen Isabella of Spain on that one episode of What If…?

…So what happened here? Campbell denied the rumor that she was cast back in February, and she’s clearly not in the show (unless she’s secretly voicing a future version of Polaris, since time travel is all over this season). The basic fact of the matter is we’ll likely never really know. Was DeMayo lying? Were the scoopers fed incorrect scoop? Or perhaps it’s best to just wait for official word on these sorts of things, rather than let the fan internet do its wild speculation thing and let things run off the rails. Honestly, it’s enough to make you Scream.
