‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2 Gets A Normal Release Schedule For A Change

After a series of extremely odd choices in how Marvel shows are released on Disney+, the release schedule for X-Men ’97 is downright normal. Or at least, it is through the end of July.

The news comes via Disney’s list of “new ons” aka new shows and episodes streaming on Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for July of 2026. And even better, after a three-episode premiere on July 1, 2026, X-Men ’97 Season 2 will be streaming one episode a week through the end of July.

While we don’t yet know if the remaining two episodes of the nine-episode season will drop as a two-episode finale on August 5, or if it will wrap up on August 12 (we’ll have to wait until mid-July to find that out, most likely), this stands in stark contrast with the confusingly inconsistent release dates of previous Marvel series, including animated shows. Daredevil: Born Again has streamed two-episode weeks, usually semi-randomly in the middle of the run of both seasons. Wonder Man, Marvel Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda and Ironheart were all binge drops that jumped wildly around the schedule. And Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man vacillated between two-episode drops and three-episode drops.

Thankfully, X-Men ’97 seems to be aping its first season, which had a two-episode premiere followed by one episode a week, which I humbly would suggest is a better way of releasing and watching a TV series. But hey, I don’t work for Disney+.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, July 1 on Disney+ at 3am ET / Midnight PT, with three new episodes on premiere day followed by one episode weekly until the finale.
