This is Comic Book Club News for June 17, 2026.
The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe In New Crossover Comic:
How best to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show? Picking up a new TV series after the success of the Disney+ special? Perhaps a live tour around the world? A new movie? Or even better: one comic!
Well guess what, you’re getting the last one, as Marvel will release The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1, crossing over Jim Henson’s creations with either Stan Lee or Jack Kirby’s creations, depending on who you talk to. The book will feature Chip Zdarsky, Pete Woods, Ashley Allen, MacKenzie Cadenhead, Kyle Starks, David Baldeon, Mike Henderson and more.
Stories include Rowlf the Dog getting kidnapped by Mojo, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker welcoming Bruce Banner and Hank Pym to the Muppet Labs, Swedish Chef helping out Doctor Strange, and Pigs in Space meeting Rocket and Groot.
The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1 hits stores on September 23, 2026.
Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees Gets Halloween Special:
If you thought Patrick Horvath’s horror hit Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees would sit out spooky season? You thought wrong, as IDW has announced Beneath the Trees Where Nobody See: Halloween Special, featuring scary stories from Horvath and several other comic book superstars.
Those superstars include James Tynion IV, Tyler Boss, Tony Fleecs, Dave Wachter, Che Grayson, Matt Emmons, and Jared Cullum, all telling tales from the perspective of the precious animal citizens of Woodbrook sitting around a campfire and telling stories. One would have thought they’d like to stay away from fire after the horrifying end of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring, but I digress.
But wait, that’s not all! The issue will also feature covers by Horvath, Peach Momoko, Fleecs, and J. Gonzo. When does Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Halloween Special hit stores? Some time in October, of course. And if that wasn’t enough, IDW also teases more news about Beneath the Trees is coming in a month’s time at San Diego Comic-Con.
DC Expands Compact Comics Line With All-Ages Adventures:
DC’s Compact Comics are a huge hit. The relatively done-in-one nature of the graphic novels, the small trim size, and most of all the cheap price point — $9.99 each — are a huge draw for new and old readers of comics. So how do you top that? An even cheaper lineup of books for young readers called DC Compact Comics Adventures, which will only cost $7.99.
The upcoming lineup will include comics based in part or inspired by Batman: The Animated Series, Teen Titans GO! and more, and join a robust lineup of other books for young readers coming out next Spring. Some highlights include Princesses of the DC Universe by Tilly and Susan Bridges, which teams up Yara Flor and Maxima; The Manifestations of Bobby Park by Jeremy Holt, which finds a kid taking an anti-acne medication and getting a muscle-bound alter ego; and Green Lantern: Destiny, concluding the trilogy begun with Legacy and Alliance.
All of these books and more will begin hitting next Spring, with the Compact Comics Adventures scheduled for March 30, 2027 and June 29, 2027.
