José Luis García-López's DC Classics Artist’s Edition cover

Iconic artist José Luis García-López will get a showcase befitting his legacy with José Luis García-López’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition from DC Comics, including original art at full size, “scanned directly from the original pages.”

Known for setting down the style guide for DC, García-López also drew everyone from Batman, to Superman, to the New Teen Titans and beyond. And in the new edition are, per PR from DC, “the original cover art to DC Comics Presents #1, a page featuring Lois Lane from the DC Comics Style Guide, interior pages from DC Comics Presents #4 and #24, and the covers to Secret Origins #6 and Superman #322.”

In total, the book will feature seven stories including BatmanJonah HexCinder and Ashe and more, alongside covers and rare pieces of art. The art is black and white, but has been scanned in full color to “capture every nuance of the original boards, showcasing the blue pencil, ink gradients, white-out corrections, margin notes, and all the subtle textures that make original art so compelling.” It’ll be printed at 12″ x 17″ side, and curated by Act 4’s Scott Dunbier.
