“Weird Al” Yankovic Teams Up With Batman And Superman For ‘World’s Weirdest’ One-Shot From DC

In an enormous missed opportunity to title a comic book DCare To Be Stupid, DC Comics has announced that none other than “Weird Al” Yankovic will meet Batman and Superman in the upcoming 40-page one-shot Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1.

Written by Mark Waid, with “vibes” from Weird Al, and art from Dan Schoening, the comic finds the fifth dimension, per a press release provided to Comic Book Club, “being hit with an affliction that turns everything dull and ordinary, but as Mr. Mxyzptlk reaches out to Superman and Batman for help, the same plague has struck Earth! Instead of dialing H for a hero, there’s only one person to call: ‘Weird Al’!”

This isn’t the first time Al has teamed up with DC. Previously, he guest-edited an issue of MAD Magazine (which is celebrating 600 issues next week), and had cameos on two DC variant covers. First, he was “Totally Normal Al” on a cover of Bizarro: Year None #1, and then perhaps presaging his collabo with Mark Waid, appeared on a cover for Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #50.

Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1 hits stores on September 2, 2026, with a main cover by Schoening and variants by Mark Spears, Riley Rossmo, and Jerry Gaylord. And not to be a back-seat writer or anything, but if there isn’t a Polka-Dot Man joke in here somewhere, I’m suing.
