#DCBlackout Campaign Calls For DC Comics Boycott:
While DC Comics is on a high lately thanks to the success of both the Absolute Universe and the mainstream one, a new social media campaign is calling for fans to boycott the company. Called #DCBlackout, the campaign is spurred on by what they call the lack of ongoing comic books for Black characters in the mainline continuity.
Started by social media influencer Alex Moon, the campaign is an evolution of #DCSoWhite, and points out that it has been over 1200 days as of this recording since DC published I Am Batman #18. Dismissing Absolute Green Lantern as it exists in a separate continuity, the campaign page details how Black-led comic books. the few that there are, often exist is one-shots, miniseries, or maxiseries. The campaign page also pushes back on the idea that Black-led comics don’t sell, putting the blame squarely on DC and a perceived lack of promotion.
As for steps to “stop the clock” on the boycott? Among other items, the ask is for 1-3 solo ongoing titles starring Black characters that “have immunity from cancellation for 2 years.” It also asks that DC update its promotion methods, provide greater transparency on sales, and greenlight a Power Company book.
To editorialize a bit here, while I don’t know about the whole “greenlight a Power Company book” thing, these complaints are valid, and whether the comic book industry sidelines Black characters by design or neglect, taking a look at how to get these titles to work is never a bad idea. And it’s certainly worked well in the publisher’s ongoing, repeated push for LGBTQ+ characters and voices. So while it’s not a one to one there, perhaps it merely needs a stronger champion for Black-led books internally, and while a boycott may or may not make a dent on sales, it could certainly highlight a problem that demands more discussion.

Old Man Logan Gets An Omnibus:
After releasing a Premier Collection version of the original Old Man Logan serial, Marvel is popping their claws into a 944 page volume omnibus collecting a chunk of the aging Wolverine’s adventures.
Per ICv2, alongside collecting Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s story from Wolverine #66-#72, the omnibus will also include the subsequent Giant-Size issue, a five issue miniseries from 2015, and a 24 issue series that launched in 2016. The book will focus on an older Logan traipsing through the Wasteland, a dark future where the world was taken over by super-villains, before the 2015 Secret Wars event thrust him into the present day of the main Marvel Universe.
The omnibus will feature covers by Andrea Sorrentino and Rahzzah, and hit stores on December 15, 2026.
TMNT #300 Gets Blind Bags:
No need to take off your colored bandana because TMNT #300 will have so many Blind Bags from IDW.
Per the publisher, the renumbered issue will kick off a new storyline, and feature covers from Juan Ferreyra and Ito, as well as never before seen covers from Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. In addition, Frank Miller and J. Scott Campbell will make their cover debut on TMNT for the first time, surprisingly.
As for the actual interior of the book… Who cares! Just kidding, it’s by Gene Luen Yang, Freddie E. Williams II, and Fero Pe, and finds the Turtles reunited with both Splinter and their mother, with a new danger on the horizon.
TMNT #300 hits stores on July 22, but the pre-order deadline is June 1.
