Book Of Boba Fett Gets Marvel Adaptation:
If you think about the biggest — and in fact, only — problem with Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, we’d all agree, it’s the fact that it wasn’t really a book. Well, Marvel will finally address this singular problem with the otherwise beloved Disney+ show, in a new seven issue comic book series by Rodney Barnes and Will Sliney
Barnes is the go-to guy for Star Wars adaptations at Marvel, including Ahsoka and the Han Solo: Hunt for the Falcon series. Meanwhile, Sliney previously drew Rise of Kylo Ren, among others. And the press release teases that “The comic series marks the exciting comic book debut of several key characters including Garsa Fwip, Dokk Strassi, Mok Shaiz’s majordomo and more!” Which sounds like someone had a stroke while typing a press release, but we do all love Star Wars, don’t we folks? We sure do.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett #1 escapes the Sarlacc on September 9, 2026.
Eric Powell Heads Back To Hillbilly For Dark Horse:
Eric Powell is one of the most reliable creators out there thanks to The Goon, Dr. Werthless and much more. But did you know he also has a series called Hillbilly? Well, he does, and it’s continuing at Dark Horse with Hillbilly: The Treason of Twelve-Toe Maggie.
In what the publisher calls a “perfect jumping on point,” the book — written and drawn by Powell — follows a wandering hillbilly “years after the Great Witch War.” In this new series, Rondel (the aforementioned hillbilly) finds himself having to work for Maggie, the witch with twelve toes. Will the wielder of the Devil’s Cleaver ever escape?
Hillbilly: The Treason of Twelve-Toe Maggie #1 hits stores on September 30, 2026.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Spinoff Angel To Debut In August:
Writer Kelly Thompson has been tight-lipped about what she has in store for Dynamite’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1, as there’s some sort of big twist/surprise/delicious candy center waiting for those who pick up the issue in July. Well, that surprise — whatever it is — continues with Angel #1 in August, which will feature art by Giulia Giacomino.
As for what’s in store for the vampire with a soul once known as Angelus? Here’s what Dynamite has to say, per PR:
Things don’t always go according to plan however and sometimes you do have to go home again. But what if in trying to set something right, chaos follows? This is that story.
Okay, synopsis. Keep your secrets. We do know that this crossover event will set the table for a whole new status quo for the Buffyverse, and Dynamite is really pushing that they won’t reveal what the central concept is of this new Buffy U. And the full solicit text for Angel #1 does reveal another detail: the new big bad of the crossover event is named Leviathan.
Angel #1 hits stores on August 19, 2026.
